    1. Global 1 % is about 32-34K, so any of your income above 34K os so get taxed at 70%.

    2. How is that math?

Because yes, the money on who they pay to changes, from insurance companies to the government. So their taxes do go up, but at the end they may save money (on average most would).

So the Medicare Tax rate may go up from 1.45% to say 5%, but then you do not have to pay hundreds of dollars a month for insurance.

That is the argument that needs to be made, but it is hard to tell when saying raise taxes will be used in negative adds out of context.

That is the political problem that single payers face when selling their plan to the electorate.

You think the insurance mandate under the ACA was hard to sell, wait until you have to sell the medicare tax increase.

So to recap, as a global one percenter it sounds like dapip isn't willing to pay a marginal rate of 70%. Who couldn't have predicted that?

By the way, to demonstrate how ridiculous and meaningless AOC's $10 million dollar income threshold is... an income of $1 million dollars makes you not a 1%er, but a 0.1%er, while the number of people earning $10 million a year is so small that they are essentially 0%ers.

No shit, really? Thank you Captain Obvious.

By the way, someone should explain to her that taxes are more progressive now than during the golden tax era she wants to bring us back to.

How about we engage in regime change in the major tax havens? Use our military for the good of the American people. Invade the Cayman Islands and send the 1st Marine Battalion of Chartered Accountants. Start simply seizing resources illegally hidden in places such as these without compensation. The GOP loves civil forfeiture. Here is a good way to both use and kill it at the same time.

    Soapcialism!!!!!

Besides, it is funny to hear a guy who complains so much about HIS healthcare costs that the main problem is that a million people not named HIM are going to pay marginally more taxes. It's all about the job creators in Kellyfish's world.

And how are you going to collect and transfer that to the UN or to the government of Nambia?

    Precisely.

That's a different problem. But the bumper-stickers should be easy for any democrat: "Universal healthcare by keeping your insurance payments the same while only taxing billionaires at a slightly higher marginal rate!!!!"

So your saying the system was more progressive during the 50s?

And I am not complaining about my healthcare costs, I signed up for Obamacare and my wife and I pay $29 a month for an better policy than last year. I am complaining about how much you have to pay for my healthcare.

And as already noted, it isn't the marginal rate AOC quotes for the 0%ers that worry me, it is the marginal rates for all of us that her policies will require.

Fortunately there is no global government to force the 1% (people with incomes above 34K) to pay 70% tax on income above that income.

We do have governments that can tax the .001% and then spend it on programs to help the 1% (more like 5%).

But that is the point, that a 70% tax on incomes above 34K would be very popular if we took a global poll, because taxing people that make more money than you is popular, half the planet lives in about 5 dollar per year or about 2,000 per year, they would gladly vote if they could for a 70% tax on incomes of 34K and above.

May as well just say Mexico will pay for it, it has worked before.

    So, gnomes underpants.

And then shutdown the government when Mexico refuses to pay?

70% won't really affect Cheeto Benito much. His only income right now is his presidential salary.

If Deutsche Bank and the Russian banks forgive their loans to him it could be a big tax hit.

Who knows what money he receives, and from where? He might have a large legal income, or a small legal income, or a large illegal income, or a small illegal income. Or no income at all. These are all things that Trump voters decided were unimportant, so there you have it, we do not know.

Unless you also include Capital gains tax, it is all BS that this is the only thing needed to pay for all the extra spending. I am all for increasing the capital gains tax and the inheritance tax.

Military spending can also be cut a bunch.

Talk like that will make us unready for threats and we'll surely lose wars. Why do you hate America?

That's about all the sentiment it takes to keep the billions flowing

I know where we could find nearly $2 trillion to pay for everything AOC wants to implement.

Actually, Stein was comparing her Democratic Socialist policies to some real-world experiments in socialism... but carry on.

The good news is that the world will allegedly end in 12 years, so no need to worry about how to pay for increased government spending.
