I must have missed the massive Republican campaign to unseat Pelosi from my district in San Francisco.
Ugh. Never cared much for Kobe, and Bruce Bowen just fell into the same trap. Cultures that see athletics as a way out are going to focus on them.
My nephew plays for North Dakota State. We watched his game against Dook about 5 rows up from the court at the baseline. Pretty good seats. Sitting in front of us was this huge black man. We chatted with him for awhile at halftime. After the game we hung around for awhile watching UCF and VCU warm up prior to their game. Mein Gott, Tacko is one tall dude. Standing next to the NDSU center, who is 6'-10" makes me wonder what it's like to stand next to Tacko, who is 8" taller. After the game we stopped to grab some food. My nephews father, who played for KU in the mid 80's asked if we knew who the guy was that we were talking to. Nope, neither me nor my son knew. It was the X-Man, Xavier McDaniel who starred for Wichita State and had a long career in the NBA. In his playing days he was listed at 6'-7", 215 lbs. He's still looks to be 6'-7" but I'd guess he tips the scale at maybe 350 lbs. He's from Columbia, SC where the game was played and his alma mater was playing in SC on Sunday. I really enjoyed our brief stay in Columbia. Everyone we met was genuinely nice to us Yankees and the weather was decent. Sorry for the threadjack.
My old college is in the Summit League for basketball and the Missouri Valley for football. They play and lose to NDSU all the time. The basketball program has been especially weak since it went to DI on the 80s, but they did your nephew's team a favor by upsetting the top seed in the conference tournament. Played the Bison pretty tough in the next round, too, by all reports. Congrats on the trip.
Thanks, Leathernecks. They sure did the Bison a huge favor. I don't know that they would have won the tournament and received the automatic invite if the played SDSU. They had recently lost to them at home on a buzzer-beater when SDSU didn't play their best.

It's logical. She's talking about feeling inadequate when confronting the elite ... who are male and not of the working class.
When I look at the republican side of governance, I think that we’d achieve more as a society if we let Coco, Lassie, Flipper, Benji, Beethoven, Ringo, et al run our government. Higher empathy and probably higher IQ too.
Although I will say, the statement would be more accurate yet if she said women + minorities, because those are the two groups whom Fox/the GOP will denigrate. Joe the Plumber gets their love. But she's a politician. She says 'working class" to avoid making her tweet read like a classic Dem minority pitch. It's an effort to get some of those missing PA, MI, and WI votes.
Except, she is not railing against Fox. She is railing against the establishment in government. "Joe the Plumber" has been royally screwed by the GOP. He does not get their love. He loves them, not the other way around. It is a one-way, abusive relationship. (By the way, he has also been screwed to an extent by the Democrats) This is the key statement. I doubt it was a calculated 'effort' to get votes, but if it works, great.
By the way, can we change the title of this thread? It is quite clear that so far in her career, Representative Ocasio-Cortez is nothing like Hillary Rodham Clinton and AOC ≠HRC2.0. I hope that one day, if she continues on her current trajectory, she has as successful of a career at Clinton, but so far, I do not see many similarities.
