My President, WTF? And I am not focused on this, I simply answered the questions regarding her views on term limits and Congressional SS. You're the one that seems it is important to defend her against any imagined slight, no mater how minor. I could not care less if she draws a paycheck, it just contradicts her previous comments that she was lauded for.
To ICs, It's obvious that we need to test the ideological purity of the commie from the Bronx just elected because she blindsided her opponent in an otherwise set primary. But questioning Individual 1's credentials and obvious lies, that's like too much. Hey, don't even ask them if they'd vote for a Democrat to save the country.
Guess what % of 'Mericans support AOCs 70% tax rate on our Takers? https://nypost.com/2019/01/15/americans-support-ocasio-cortezs-70-percent-tax-rate-on-rich-poll/
According to the poll, 45 percent of Republican voters said they favored it ... Is there a decimal point missing?
The worst received, most radical lefty ideas poll better than do the mainstream GOP proposals. But then Republicans say look there's a ************ and he looks dangerous, and much of the Dems advantage vanishes.
As with everything in GOP, taxing the mega rich takes a distant second, third, eleventieth seat to being racist. As long as they can be racist, the base will be extremely patient on all the other measures. Just wait another 3 or decades for those tax cuts to trickle down...
Seeing that I am under Court order to remain 500' from she who cannot be named all I can say is she's the Secretary of State in Kentucky.
Mitch McConnell may be an evil SOB who is singularly most responsible for gridlock in Washington over the last decade, but his campaign made some good ads. There was the "Narcos" ad against his primary challenger last time, and this one when he was challenged by Alison a few years ago. It's catchier than Baby Shark!
Fox News Debuts Premium Channel For 24-Hour Coverage Of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez https://t.co/2ET3x5Ibhl pic.twitter.com/uYQUeCQfYp— The Onion (@TheOnion) January 16, 2019
The GOP obsession with AOC is creepy and deranged. Paul Krugman just wrote a great thread about it. Verified account 50m50 minutes ago Paul Krugman Retweeted Scott Walker A few thoughts on the Ocasio-Cortez effect on policy discourse, which has been salutary in ways that have little to do with her specific ideas 1/ Paul KrugmanVerified account @paulkrugman To be honest, I'm somewhat uneasy about all the attention @aoc is getting, because a lot of it is obviously for the wrong reasons. She's telegenic and her shocking rise makes a good story; but there are lots of impressive freshmen in this class, and she gets all the attention 2/ 9:30 PM - 16 Jan 2019On the other hand, she's really talented at the modern media game, and is getting a hearing for ideas that more conventional politicians are afraid to touch -- and the reactions of conservatives are pure gold Verified account 43m43 minutes ago First off, the constant attempts to dismiss her as stupid are helping to highlight the casual racism and sexism of so much discourse -- she's surely smarter than the median member of Congress, especially in the GOP, who is basically as dumb as a rock 4/ Verified account 41m41 minutes ago And time after time the right-wing critics end up showing their own ignorance not just of policy but of politics. The 70% top rate thing is classic: not only don't these guys know that it's based on solid economics, but ... 5/ Verified account 39m39 minutes ago ... they don't know that higher taxes on the rich are *highly popular*. They're under the delusion that the public buys into the right-wing economic frame, when the reality is that working-class whites vote GOP for the racism, not the supply-side economics 6/ Verified account 34m34 minutes ago So @aoc is both a real political talent and very useful as someone who flushes the ignorant prejudice of the right into the open. So in the end it's all good. A party that only had people like her to present its case might have problems, but 7/ Verified account 31m31 minutes ago there are plenty of experienced veterans and deep thinkers too. Not to slight the many other good people, but just compare the lineup of Pelosi, Warren, and Ocasio-Cortez with anything on the other side 8/ Verified account 24m24 minutes ago And The Onion, as always, has the truth 9/
I share Krugman's take. If all the Democrats had were people with AOS's approach, that would be a problem. But the party is full of policy wonks. What it is short on is flair, which AOS provides. Plus, as he writes, she is useful in that she draws out the racists and sexists. She helps the Republican Party to show how bad it really is.
The Narcos ad was about a Republican Senate candidate in West Virginia, not his own challenger. It was awesome, though.
