I live in LA and go to every FC Dallas away game here, and our support is usually present but dispersed. The 2016 Open Cup semifinal was a notable exception. That was awesome! I would like to reach out to other LA-based supporters and people that travel to away games to see if we can coordinate and sit together. We definitely have a loud and proud online presence, let's transfer that to the stands! I will gladly take the lead on that if there are enough of us. Opener: FCD @ LA Galaxy - StubHub Center. Sat. March 4, 1:00 PM PST Here is some info on away supporters seating at StubHub:
That's awesome that you're doing this, Eric! Good luck to you. I'm going to try to drive down for the CCL game in a couple weeks.
A friend of mine said we should have gone to Argentina this week. What a fun trip that would have been / would be.
Yeah, maybe I should have checked with y'all earlier. I'm going to try to grab anyone in a FCD shirt and give them my info to plan ahead for the future. I'm not sure what section I will be in, but you will know when we score.
I would if I was there. I'll be in San Jose in April but I'll miss FCD playing there by a few days. Sucks
The United States Army, in its infinite wisdom, has me on a field training exercise for First Kick weekend (and the surrounding three weeks). Also, my newest spawn is supposed to be born sometime that week. Whoever is in charge of my calendar is fired.
I have 3 girls. 16,13&7. Lots of screaming and emotion but you'll be fine if you already have 3. The boy is the one you should be training for psy ops. He'll need skills to survive 3 sisters.
How are you guys getting your tickets for away games? I'm thinking about going to the games at Portland and Salt Lake. Their websites have tickets available, but don't show where the away fans sit. I wouldn't mind not sitting in a corner, but I'm not sure I want to be like the guy in the Interjections episode of Schoolhouse Rock wedged in among the home fans yelling, "Hooray, I'm for the other team!"
You can call the front office and see if any other traveling fans have inquired about tickets. Typically for games where I know I'm the only one traveling from Dallas (that I know of), I'll just be that guy in the middle of the home fans. To me, it's no different than the occasional away jersey we see at Toyota. That's how it'll be for me on Saturday
I once sat in the Timbers Army section for a game against FC Dallas. The TA was friendly and kept handing me a sheet of their chants, despite my shirt and clear affinity. The TA jeered and heckled me all game, but in good spirit. Mauro Diaz scored his first goal for Dallas and I went ape shit, turning around and making a fool out of myself, but that just earned me a free beer. All in all, it was really weird but friendly and fun. Probably would have been different if it wasn't just me and my girlfriend.
The only time I'm pro-segregation is when it comes to supporters' groups. Most people are cool, but there's always that one asshole that wants to go all Green Street Hooligans. Besides, I'm not down with other teams' fans in the Beer Garden.
Not sure why you'd want to sit in the middle of any of that during the game, before or after fair enough, but just seems like a disaster waiting to happen.
My FCD season ticket rep gave me a contact in the Portland office who gave me a link to buy tickets in the away supporters section - without having to pay the ticket fee. If you think our tickets are expensive, check out Portland's. I paid $54 each to sit in the upper deck in the section all the way down the right field line. All the upper deck on that side is $54 except for obstructed view tickets at $35 where you have to look around support columns for the upper deck overhang.
Cheap is always a good reason. Just meant if given a choice, it would pretty much be the last place i'd choose. Being in the opposite situation here, i've only ever had 1 person be a dick to me about wearing my Galaxy shirt to the LA game each year, that's in the 11+ seasons i've been here. The people who sit next to me in the season seats always give me a hard time, but in a good fun way.
Sometimes I wish Dallas fans were tougher on people with visiting team shirts but then remember how obnoxious fans can be when I've visited other places and am happy with the newer arrangement of not bothering you but beating your team while you watch. Oh the SH years made me bitter in how many home games they lost.
