Yep. Silicon Valley is way more aligned to being good stooges of the government than our German friends suppose. They're spineless "defenders" of free speech. Only speech they don't dislike gets defense.
There is no such thing as worldwide 21st century standards. Just look at the standards some of the recent refugees in Germany, Sweden, etc... have for women. Look at the standard for just about anything in the Middle East and North Africa. IMHO freedom of speech is a more advanced standard that government censorship. It is Germany that need to bring itself to the 21st century. The US, with a pretty racist past, and almost complete freedom of speech, managed to elect and African American president. Surely the enlightened Germans could manage to live with freedom of speech. Also, something unpleasant or illegal comment is bound to get through, which just mean fines and lawsuits. Germany may not be worth the effort.
In general, yes. In terms of freedom of speech no. Comparable to your take on the metric system. But hey, facebook with their market power should be keen on implementing 21st century standards just because of their corporate social responsibility. They would do well and most likely contribute to turning the US into a less violent place.
You're a bit late to this discussion but perhaps you can take the time and go back in this thread to see that several of your countrymen failed to understand 21st century standards and to this day still do. And it showed in this, your current election campaign.
Hey, how many right-wing attacks against migrants have occurred in the last 365 days in Germany? That moral high ground you occupy doesn't exist. Stop pretending it does.
One thing we can see very clear these days: If the constitution and criminal code would be up to date, the guy inciting to hatred on twitter and elsewhere would be in prison by now. 21st century - but not in the US unfortunately. And we havent even started talking about the hate crimes resulting from this. You could talk about and try to solve it but you and others are evidently still in denial there is a problem in the first place.
It's a leftist/communist platform's youth/cultural center. Shouldnt stop him from performing anywhere else in Leipzig.
BUMP 18th century decided it wants to learn it the hard way Brussels says murican companies are not acting according to code of conduct on hate speech, "act swiftly or new laws will force you to react faster" https://www.ft.com/content/b3163cca-ba32-11e6-8b45-b8b81dd5d080
Oh, they will react, just like when China comes asking for logs on dissidents, when the corporations think their profits are going to take a hit, they comply with the government most of the time, be it the EU or China.
Potentially get in trouble for saying mean things about Israel in school Sen. Robert P. Casey Jr. (D-Pa.) and Republican Sen. Tim Scott (S.C.) have submitted legislation that would expand the definition of anti-Semitism used by the Education Department to include some anti-Israel protests. It appears targeted at Palestinian rights activism on campuses. (The Intercept describes how much discrimination Palestinian rights activists already face.) https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...nal-policies/?utm_term=.716772f554a3#comments

Thanks for not answering my question. However, the German government has stated that violent crime rates - sexual assault in particular - have decreased in 2015 and 2016. While migrants may take up an increasing proportion of the dwindling number of cases, the absolute and relative numbers still declined. Now is it okay if you answer my question? How many right-wing attacks against Muslims have occurred in Germany?
Thank you for providing supporting documentation of my point. If there were no migrants raping German women, the overall rate would be significantly lower. Got it.
Defending FOS, oh the dignity. http://www.economist.com/blogs/democracyinamerica/2017/01/marks-and-censor So by June we will know if the Slants are allowed to trademark their name, and perhaps if the redskins get to keep their trademark.
So the French Donald Trump, retweeted a few pictures of ISIS being the fvked up people that they are back in 2015, and well the French government did not like it, and have finally convinced the EU to lift her immunity to possibly face charges. https://www.yahoo.com/news/marine-le-pen-loses-eu-parliament-immunity-105343461.html
