Though Ruiz' goal was awesome, being that he's only about 5'9 and was able to win that ball off the top and head it in, I still think that Williams' shot was GOTW because of the 5,000 mark for MLS.

Let's just all be glad that RSL didn't achieve that on an own goal. :D

Don't piss and moan... Williams is a stud. The goal had implications that were historic for the club and league. Beside, that is what you support a team for... to be homers.

Sorry, guys - this RSL fan voted for Ruiz. The whole build up was outstanding - Rhine sacrificing himself for a high header, hitting O'Brien making a perfectly timed run up the flank, and the cross to Ruiz for the backheel. Wow.

As much as I liked Kreis challenging Ezra and pouncing on the spilled ball, and Andy's goal being #5,000, the FCD goal would not be out of place on a hghlight show anywhere in the world.

    ?????

shut it? why, cuz hes a rsl supporter who wants all things rsl to get the best recognition possible? dont rain on his parade, this is the rsl board and it is his perogative to vote for who he wants. its also his perogative to to tell other people to vote for williams, hes not forcing them to click the damn button. just because the cRapids dont have anything close to the fan support rsl does doesnt give you the right to come on here and bitch at us to stop supporting our team.

    shut it?

    screw off.

    /done with soap box.

    Don't be hostile to Bonj.
First he is a Crap fan (god bless him).
And second, Pereugo only got about 2% of the vote.

Jealousy is the greatest form of flattery.

If you really think Andy's goal was the best of the week (and since "best" is a subjective measure, it is legitimate to think that way), then by all means, vote for it.

However, I spent 9 years as a fan of MLS in general, and was always annoyed when DC fans voted some middle of the road strike as GOTW in the name of club pride. I wished they would be objective because "club pride" really isn't riding on the GOTW (unless, perhaps, superb strikes are routinely omitted, and you finally got a chance to vote for one). If an RSL goal is voted in each time it is nominated regardless of its comaparative quality, then it weakens the "win" for GOTW when its merited.

I'm mostly venting in general at years of this and not at supporting Andy Williams this week in particular. I think you could make a case for it, since it was #5,000 and a good strike to boot.

Rant over - been a long time since I've snapped, sorry!

I think the reason behind people voting for Andy is because it was historic. Anyone in the right mind can see that it wasn't the most athletic goal this week. If you're not an RSL fan, but you like MLS in general or another club, then it is up to you to decide whether or not you want to vote for a milestone, or a very athletic goal.

In that case, do "vote" and "vote often" mean something different?

Yeah... but you got people stuffing ballots on both sides...

MLS could fix this real easy by making it (ala cookies or whatever) that you can only vote once. Now, stuffing the ballot is pretty hard to do.

For what it's worth, the Fox Sports Report showed their global top ten tonight (a weekly must see).

#10-7 - Bayern, Tecos, AJ Accacacaca something, Coca Cola Champ
    #6 - Fase for Nantes
#5 - Hargreaves for Bayern Munich
#4 - Alberts for Minnesota Thunder (hadn't seen it - a nice bomb)
    #3 - Djorkaef's second
    #2 - Ruiz's second
#1 - Drogba for Chelsea (incredible individual effort)

I for one really thought Youri's goal was outstanding. It took great vision and just the right touch to volley it right over the goal keeper.

I also want to second the notion of voting for the best goal of the week and to ignore which club it came from. If you have legitimate reasons for voting for Andy's goal (other than that it will piss off Dallas or for blind club pride) then I say go for it.

    Go RSL!

They already use cookies to prevent people from stuffing GOW, but if you know what you are looking for, you can delete the cookie and vote again.

For the record, I am not smart enough to delete the right cookie... so I am resigned to one vote on GoW.

    Ya!

Thanks, UPinSLC. That daftee BonjNonAudi didn't give any hint that we have a friendly level of heckling which is why he's giving me crap. Although personaly I think he's just bitter cuz he hasn't got his beloved Audi grocery getter. :) And beside, like any good Coloradan, he's actually from California. :D

    Vote for Andy!
