    ok...here are my few cents....

fernandes vs. anderson...very tough choice. they both have different strengths. anderson seems the more advanced playmaker type whereas fernandes is a more box to box. they're both creative but fernandes plays with more of an edge. i also think at the moment anderson makes the better decisions with the ball. i believe both will be incredible players as long as their heads don't inflate too much. i think what is benefiting anderson now is who he's playing with. it's kind of nice to play with scholes ronaldo nani rooney and tevez. whereas fernandes is playing with cahil, johnson, yakubu, arteta and neville. of those players i think arteta has a similar mindset with how they play the game.

now with regards to quaresma....now this guy is an interesting case. definately the best player in the portuguese league. incredible skill. the question of whether or not a player can be "stupid" and still be an incredible player is quite valid. a player can easily be the best player with the most assists etc etc, and still not make the most intelligent decisions. it just means he should be doing better with the skills he's blessed with. is he statistically great because of the league he plays? would he be doing the same in a more difficult league playing against bigger and better teams? i think that would be the true test.

with that i hope he's picked up by a good club in spain or italy, and shows us all that he's capable of doing the same there. and because i have no ties to any portuguese and only support the NT, it would benefit us there as well.:D

    Nem de proposito:

For all those that brought in Nani to this debate and claim he's done better than Anderson at Man Utd. here is Alex Ferguson's take on their game up to this point:

"Anderson has already exploded, Nani is taking a little more time..."

who are we, actually, who are the Sportinguistas to question Sir Alex' "ignorant" opinion???!!!!

    right Mr. JLR? :D

Well there isn’t much question about it.
The chicken shit for brains actually got to play in the league… and getting his leg broken on a fair challenge wasn't one of his notorious achievements while here so he takes the cake.

    i'll ignore the insults.

let me ask you a few questions, particularly as you like to look at things from fergie's perspective.

did nani start against arsenal at the emirate? no.
did nani start against liverpool at anfield? no.
did nani start away in lyon on wednesday? no.

andersons started all of these games, because in his short time at united he has proved himself to be an integral member of the side and is quite simply undroppable for the big games. to use stats is quite senseless, considering the two players play in different positions. i'd agree that anderson needs to show a little more in terms of an attacking contribution, but he's not playing the same role as nani. if you watch united as much as you suggest and as much as myself (every single game) you'd be aware that anderson has been playing in central midfield. so comparing their goalscoring or assists stats is unfair. it's like saying simao is better than deco because he scores more.

the fact (and it is a fact, not just my opinion) is that anderson has had a far bigger impact on the united fans than nani. if you want to find a united forum and ask for yourself be my guest. until the arsenal game most fans were still undecided on nani. his last couple of performances have been good and most are optimistic that he'll be a very good player for united. as i said before, with anderson it's a far more straightforward situation. the united fans are in love with anderson. he's got superstar writtern all over him and most old trafford regulars feel that he's a talent to be put on the same level as rooney or ronaldo.

this is not a slight on nani, but anderson's mature and varied performances have been a joy to watch and his impact has truly been one of the highlights of the season so far, whereas nani, talented as he is, has very much blown hot and cold.

It really is Anderson at the moment. I honestly think Fernandes could have been up there. He has everything Anderson has except for the raw speed, however Anderson is younger.

Fernandes needs to stay at a team. Valenica was initially a good choice, and he was begging to take control of the CM position, but the arrival of Koeman and his antics quickly changed that. Valencia will be lucky to qualify for a CL spot with Koeman in charge. I believe the reason Fernandes was only loaned out is because Koeman will be gone next season...the hierarchy of Valencia clearly saw something in Manny.

On the Nani and Anderson debate, I just want to state something. Anderson has been given much more playing time then Nani, defaulted by injuries really. Anderson took charge of the opportunity and has excelled. Nani by contrast has always been fighting with Giggs for that spot, but besides the much reduced playing time, has 3 goals and leads Manchester United in assists. I wonder what Nani would have done should he had been forced into the starting role somewhat like Anderson....

Yes on paper it does look like Nani was much more influential for Manchester United, however Anderson role on the team, controlling the midfield and thus the tempo + distribution cannot be understated.

P.S: Anderson was definitely valued higher then Manny when they both left respectively. When Manchester United came in for the double swoop, not to much more then Nani, mostly due to Anderson tendency to get injured.

He twisted his leg I think. His namesake Gelson Fernandes tackled him. I feel sorry for the lad. Valencia have ruined his confidence and he just doesn't look the same player as he did last season. He keeps losing the ball in dangerous areas and doesn't look his confident self.

I still have faith in him though. He may not be producing his best form but he's putting the effort in and he's upped his work rate which is nice to see.

I really want us to buy him as it will be a positive for both our club and himself. We need a central midfielder of his quality and his talent and he needs stability and a club that he can grow at.

Hopefully he'll get a game and show what he is about. I have a feeling we'll need him against Portsmouth. It would be a great battle in the middle of the park between Lassana Diarra and Manuel Fernandes.

Anderson will be (if not already) be a star. I love the kid. Fernandes just has not been able to reach the level of play that many thought he could or should have. Honestly, I dont think he was as good a many thought. Anderson is already much better and getting better. Great player.

Hm. Those are pretty big words considering they play different positions and have different roles with the team. So I'd be careful about slamming others for 'not knowing what goes on in the games. ;)

Nani has scored some goals, but Anderson was inserted right into the United Lineup when Scholes went down, and the club didn't miss a beat. I for one thought England was a bad move for Anderson in the beginning and anticipated him to struggle rather mightily. But he proved me wrong - ten fold. He's been pretty exceptional for them and has been terrific in CM and AM roles. Nani's done very well too and has scored some crackling goals for United. Realistically, it's tough to compare the players because neither of them are committed, full-time starters IMO. Giggs is still going and of course, so is Cristiano Ronaldo. But that they did so well in their first season with the club was promising. IMO, especially for the 19 yr. old Anderson.

What amazing is this was NEVER a debate about who was having a better season.

This is a debate about who is the better talent.

It IS hands down Anderson over Nani and Fernandes.

Well, thing is, Anderson is not showing that much for the all praising he is getting here. Until we see him playing like Nani, he's just a good prospect. In fact, I do believe he has an enormous talent but people are overhyping the kid lately. There are other promises throughout Europe that are playing way better than him.
So where's the fairness in claiming that he's better than Nani if he hasn't shown it yet?

In more simple words, I haven't seen the skills he displayed in FC Porto and he certainly haven't done regurlarly in M. United. If he's more talented, then he has to prove that on the field.

You gotta watch more closely because he has lived up to the "hype" he's getting, even in the big games, like vs Liverpool.
