Elway's lost. It's not a steal of the century but bruce allen won this negotiation. I haven't understood a lot of elway's moves the past 3 years. He feels desperate.
It even surprised me that they pulled this off. When Bruce Allen fleeced you, you know it’s bad. I heard we aren’t out on Rosen, so it’s nice to have some extra leverage and security for that. Cards could have called our bluff on Colt.
I don't really understand why Flacco is going to be the guy to come in and juice up this flagging Denver offence. Keep Keenum and get a young guy. Cycling through "meh" veteran QBs isn't going to fix this OL. I like the Fangio hire but yeah Elway has been grasping at straws here. The Elway might be the wrong way this time.
I've asked several people about Case Keenum tonight. Their answers invariably start with something like "assuming everything is perfect around him..." So it is simple. The Redskins just need to have a perfect situation around him. Ready. Break.— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) March 8, 2019
Isn't this basically the same argument Paulsen made on the other side for Cousins? That he needed more than a top OL, Sean McVay and Jay Gruden calling his plays, Reed,, Garçon, DeSean, and Crowder to get the job done?
Basically. Used to say Kirk needed a bunch of things even though he had many positive things around him, which equates to needing a perfect team around him.
The #AZCardinals have released veteran S Antoine Bethea and backup QB Mike Glennon.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 8, 2019 They released @MatthausSammer boy! I kid, I kid. We all get them wrong at times.
Former Dolphins’ WR Danny Amendola plans to sign with Detroit, per source. Amendola is in Detroit now, taking a physical and as long as there are no complications, he will be a Lion, reunited with GM Bob Quinn and HC Matt Patricia. #Lions— Dianna Russini (@DMRussini) March 11, 2019 @MatthausSammer
Hopefully Case is starting. And yeah, it should be prime time with those storylines. And we know what Kirk does on prime time lol.
It's a little annoying that the Lions just fall in love with former Patriots. It's not a ton of money and Amendola is still an okayish WR4, but dayum Bob, show some creativity.
My sources are usually on point.... Sources: Former #Giants star S Landon Collins is signing a 6-year deal for a whopping $84M with the rival #Redskins. Hard to imagine a box safety with this kind of deal after last year’s slow safety market. This moves the market dramatically.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 11, 2019
Patriots DE Trey Flowers intends to sign with Detroit, per source.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 11, 2019 Boston to Detroit train continues... @MatthausSammer
At face value, looks like a big deal. 3 for 45 basically, which is a little steep, but we sorely needed an impact guy on the backend. As long as he is utilized for what he is, I think we will see return on investment. I don't think any of the "value" guys at safety were going to want to come here because they know we aren't winning (see Weddle). We needed to splash some cash to get one of the big fish. Too bad there isn't someone out there at WR to do the same....
Oh boy... The deal is probably too much, and I have a real problem with how the Lions are content to be Diet Patriots (we pay the players the Patriots got on value), but we had a problem at edge, and this at least gives us something there. I would've rather tried to hit on it in the draft, but it was always going to be a major investment.
That's not as bad as I thought it might be but it's still big money. I would've rather tried to upend the Pats on Michael Bennett lol.
Well... In the past I blew up on Bob Quinn for not being aggressive. This is definitely aggressive. Between Coleman and Flowers, these are his big moves, we'll see how they work.
#Lions have agreed to a deal with former #Steelers TE Jesse James, source says. Detroit remains active.— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) March 11, 2019 A non-Pat to Detroit!
