@MatthausSammer As crazy as it sounds, I have the Lions in the playoffs. http://www.espn.com/nfl/playoffs/machine
This Rudolph guy looked just as good as Rosen and darnold. I like my pocket passers but Rosen and darnold aren't the lay ups everyone is making them out to be
Rudolph feels slow mentally to me. Doesn't really go through progressions quickly and he lacks mobility. Darnold would be a layup if he had better decision-making IMO. He needs to improve there.
I thought Darnold was getting screwed by the OC's failure to get the plays in quickly-- by the time they were set, he had to go whether he had had a chance to read or not-- and then he got no chance to do it on the fly either, because the OSU D-line had his protection so stampeded the ball had to come out quick, and so he didn't get much chance at seeing the play develop. Who did kind of impress me was Barrett-- he might be able to stay at the position in the pros after all; he might make a pretty sound backup for Newton for example.
He wasn't the answer, so in that sense, yes. But I'm also very apprehensive about the Lions' options now that he is. Even the biggest name I've seen the Lions linked to, and almost the only name I've seen, is Matt Patricia, who's a serious question mark. My biggeest thing is I'd want an offensive mind, particularly one who has a track record with OLine play and running the ball, if not as a HC, then somewhere on this staff. I'm fine with Patricia if he's paired with someone like that, like a Kubiak or a Munchak or someone like that. But I need to see the vision and right now I am not seeing it. I also want Quinn to think outside the Patriots box and have a real interviewing process with a few candidates from different teams. If Patricia wins that, fine, then I'll roll with it. But if Quinn is just content with hiring Patricia because they're buddies from the Patriots, I'm going to become somewhat irate.
I honestly can't even think of exciting candidates this year though. Any ideas on who you'd like the Lions to hire?
Just schurmur but not excited lol. Not sure he can lead men. Mcdaniels might be interestonh defilipo would be horrendous.
Having briefly skimmed the ESPN report, it sounds plausible enough to me. It's not a bombshell and I don't think it'll affect the Pats much. Hoodie will keep players focused and ready, but it was always going to be a difficult situation when Garroppolo looked ready to take the reins and Brady is still playing at such a high level. They chose prioritizing the Super Bowl present over an uncertain but promising future, and that's fine by me, but I buy that not everyone would agree with that approach. Disagreement within an organization is healthy at a certain level, and I don't think the Pats have necessarily exceeded that point.
McDaniels was disastrous in Denver. I'd be all right with Shurmur, but not excited. Man, this year is terrible in terms of looking for HCs. I might have been able to talk myself into Marvin freaking Lewis had he been fired from Cincy as the best option. He'd bring a physical edge at least.
It’s probably overblown to a degree, but there’s definitely truth there. When there’s smoke, there’s a fire. The bit on Jimmy G is what sells it to me.
My plan at WR: I'm signing Marqise Lee and Paul Richardson. Re-upping with Ryan Grant on cheap. That'd be a terrific group and wouldn't break bank.— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) January 10, 2018 and if Kirk is still around, he will probably put the blame on them for any passing game struggles.
I've heard that Lee has struggled with drops this year. I'm sure Grant would love another excuse to throw around.
My 2 cents for the upcoming Playoff games ATL 28-21 PHI (Falcons with the upset!!) TEN 21-35 NE (Patriots will be too strong) JAC 10-14 PIT (Pittsburgh will crack that Jaguar defense) NO 35-21 MIN (The Saints will come marching in!!)
