Posted Nov 9, 2016 The ASL are proud to announce the new expansion initiatives for 2017. These will include, but are not limited to; -ASL pro team franchise. -ASL 21 NCAA compliant summer team -AWSL NCAA compliant summer women's team -State of the art team website -Team e-commerce site -EPX2 White labeled site, player ID system for evaluation and sale of players -Team front office training in all aspects of brand and team development from registration, marketing, team training, camps, sponsorship etc, -25k in ASL league apparel sponsorship with our new league wide sponsor -Full time front office ASL staff.
But who's doing the front office training? This could be hilarious. Especially if it's done by Matt Driver.
Sale of players? Since ASL isn't sanctioned as a pro league, I don't think they can hold anyone's player card.
This is the soccer equivalent of giving your bank account and routing number to the family of a slain Nigerian prince.
What does this even mean? -EPX2 White labeled site, player ID system for evaluation and sale of players
This is how it should be if anyone was paying attention. Players have been signing bogus professional contracts that both USASA and US Soccer approved without ever actually reading them. Initially players from the first season had trouble signing with other teams (USL, PDL, NPSL) because ASL teams held onto their US Soccer player registrations, arranged through USASA. Later when that was kind of sorted out, teams in the ASL still told players that they couldn't sign for other teams (USL, PDL, NPSL) without a release even though the ASL contracts were expired. The contracts themselves look like a third grader wrote them in crayon but no one in the country's soccer governing bodies seemed to care over the past two years.

Meanwhile, an ASL player moves up: Sacramento Republic just signed winger Lamin Suma, who played for the Philadelphia Fury in the spring season. http://www.sacrepublicfc.com/news_article/show/730610?referrer_id=2875415 That said... "He scored two goals in the ASL spring season while helping the Fury to the best record in the ASL." That's already more information than you could have learned from the ASL or Philadelphia Fury websites.
What's funnier is that the version posted by the USL does not mention ASL by name. It mentions the Philadelphia Fury twice but then says: "Most recently, Suma played in the United States with the Philadelphia Fury, where he scored two goals in the spring season while helping the Fury to the best record in the league." USL has a track record of doing that for players who sign with experience from NASL, just not naming the league or pretending it didn't exist. It would be odd that the USL would be purposely omitting the name of the ASL but perhaps the league office staff has gone to full petty mode.
MLS did that with Bobby Shuttleworth when he went from the NPSL in Buffalo to the Revs...I think that it's a common practice

Wait, what? Who was the home team? Philadelphia Fury's PR people seem only slightly better than the league's.
according to Wiki...Benidorm actually ceased operations back in 2011...so they either played a ghost or it might all be fake news...lol
I'll just put this here: Here's a first driving home from practice on the expressway listening to some real good grooves and I run out of gas ! #sat waiting shucks— Matt Driver (@HC_Matt_Driver) February 3, 2017

History The final design incorporates team history through our vintage logo of eagles soaring higher. It also includes Maryland state flag which shows our landscape of Patriotism. The Super Green Football club establishment year was 1999 after parting operations with most vibrant amateur team in metro area called “Washington Eagles FC”. SGFC Eagles unfailing achievements has inspired many and attracted football talents across the northeast part of United States, keeps consistent patterns over the years around the corridor of amateur soccer and developing youth to overseas program for next level of career. The America Soccer League (ASL) soccer franchise revealed a new team name and logo late last year 2016. Formerly Super Green Football Club, an affiliates of ASL has been rebranded as the SGFC Eagles Soccer Club, according to press release announced by the owner and club stakeholders. Along with a new team name, the club announced a new logo which was developed with significant fan input. The club’s focus will remain on being Metropolitan area of Washington District team, the club for all of the cities and cultures that make up State of Maryland. SGFC Eagles have been working with a top-tier branding company named VOMOZ Media, on Team’s reality show, and the design of the logo by the trio “Unku-Ziko-Palo”. Vomoz is well known for their work on the RCCG project, unveiling “Ose Mama” and several new brands. While seeking evolution of SGFC name and its logo, the stakeholders wanted the primary focus to be on Washingtonian fan base,” according to Richard Opanuga, an SGFC brainbox popularly known as “Coach Zico”. Following the trends of soccer teams around our region, we noticed most teams in the past have ignored the importance of having the Chesapeake shield and Flag to be a part of their logo, we at “Super Green” really wanted to embrace it and make it a focal point. We wanted to give our fans something that readily identifies the club as Maryland professional soccer team.” We are : Eagles of Maryland I SGFC Screaming Eagles I Super Green … Always Super on the Green
