this thread is to give love to the pioneers who worked hard at their craft like farmers in a desert. The ones who transformed the US from a joke into a regional power.

    The 94ers, the (U17) 99ers, the 02ers...all the ers.

Way to build the structure into which some bastards from Germany could parachute after getting dumped by their first love.

Special shoutout to Conor Casey. Despite having a fear of socks he still put them on against Honduras and scored two goals during a tough away qualifier. Also noteworthy is Eric Wynalda, the first American player to sign up for Twitter. And who could forget Giuseppe Rossi, Italy's all-time goal scorer in the Confederations Cup? Go USA!

I didn't think you could outdo your silly hot-take that the reason we didn't make it to Russia is because Mexico didn't try to win their final Hex match but congrats! At least you didn't point out that they're all minorities as well. I'm sure you think it has nothing to do with it.

    MPNumber9, TOAzer and butters59,

Does your rep of Superdave's post mean that you think that above-listed players, among others, are "bastards"?

Dumped by his first love indeed, as he openly admitted a few years back:

By 1986, at age 25, Dooley had led unfashionable FC Homburg to the Bundesliga, made a move to established top flight side Kaiserslautern and was pushing hard for a call-up to the German national team.

The call never came. "I was gutted," Dooley remembers. "Three times I was on the verge of being called in, but each time I suffered serious injuries and the chance went begging. I despaired that I would never play international football, but my wife assured me, 'there must be a reason for it.'"

TFC would be their sexy mistress, not the first love.
