Aly Wagner was one of my favorite female players both in college and on the USWNT. Mad ball skills. Seen her play many times while at Santa Clara, WUSA, USWNT and always appreciated her style. She played soccer, not just kick and run.

Aly I love watching you on the Sol last year. You have the best Tweats. A great person and wonderful player.

Seconded: fun to follow tweets. She seemed like a character. And overall a good player. I wished I had taken that op to go up to the Whole Foods meet and greet somewhere near LA last year.

Did Wagner play much for the Sol? About how many minutes did she average a game? Did she miss any games?

Because of injuries, she missed several games. She ended up playing 15 of the 20 regular season games, starting 11 and averaging over 60 minutes per game in the games she played and had 4 assists, 2nd only to Miyama on the Sol. She also started the championship match.

I always enjoyed her style of play and her skill. I think if she had been born two years earlier or later she would have been one of the main stars on the USA team, but I never thought she got the best opportunities to shine there.

    Plus, she is hot :)

good luck Aly, whatever you do next!

and i saw her play a few times at OL...

in a convoluted way, you had aly to thank for camille.

wagner was in the american contingent in 2005 that showed OL and the french league in general what big-time women's football was all about. when she left we bought abily from montpellier to fill the spot. 3 years of winning with us, going deep in the UEFA women's cup and captaining france gave her the limelight to attract american attention... et voilà!
