In the main thread on MLS N&A it has been talked about for a while. Specifically here are a two Columbus Crew fans talking about it: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/columbus-crew-to-austin-texas.2075319/page-84#post-36101159 https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/columbus-crew-to-austin-texas.2075319/page-148#post-36388851 I don't know that there is anything officially backing it up, so it may all be bluster (at least I haven't found any published reports). Really, though, any untenable economic position Precourt has found himself in is his own fault. He can still end up making a ton of money on the deal if considering he bought the team 5 years ago for $68m, or he can move to a market that doesn't have a stadium solution, bad options for temporary stadiums, doesn't have any well positioned land to build a stadium on, and doesn't have the political will to fork over millions in public dollars to build him a stadium so that he has to spend his family's money on a stadium. All while poisoning the well in his current city. The whole thing is a giant cluster**** of his own making. The businesses set up for form the a group seeking to work with Precourt and found him unwilling to work with them and many have actively campaigned for the Save the Crew movement. BrewDog specifically has offered to be part of the local buyout, at least publicly. Crew fans are really stuck between a rock and a hard place in terms of support this year. Certainly going through the Chargers moving to LA, I immediately lost all passion for the team (and really I'm glad I no longer care about the NFL). The players are still going to get paid and will have careers beyond this, they'll be fine.
I read that in the paper today. Found it funny that Donovan said he was happy to sit on the bench and mentor the young guys (for $3 million a year, BTW), and Bruce Arena called BS.
Donovan scores his first goal for Leon...against the SJ Earthquakes! https://www.lagalaxy.com/post/2018/...inds-way-score-against-san-jose?autoplay=true
Hahaha, I copied and pasted the title and didn't even notice "lover". I checked it again and they corrected it.
The enigma of Zardes continues. Apparently, he's a hugely popular FIFA 18 player, with YouTube videos with 100K views. This one of his 2016 highlights is pretty great, actually:
Zardes is always making runs. He has been doing very well dragging CB's in the Crews system. Crew are tied with NYFC in the east and second overal in Goals For
Robbie Keane’s ATK are out of the Indian Super Cup.He’s currently their player-manager, so that might have been the last game of his playing career. Fittingly, he scored a goal. If it was his last game, then the billboard sums him up perfectly:Robbie Keane. Hero. pic.twitter.com/01EtUuGnDt— Ronan Murphy (@swearimnotpaul) April 3, 2018

Hope there's some crow eating about Zardes and him being beholden to Donovan/Keane. Looks like he's doing just fine in Columbus with 8 goals and not even half the season gone. Good for him.
I've seen all but one of Gyasi's goals this year and I think he is still beholden to good service. He had this beauty 2-touch goal https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2018/04/21/goal-gyasi-zardes-bends-his-shot-around-matt-turner and a PK and 5 easy 1-touch tap-ins. I think he would've still been struggling here with the mess we have.
Probably would've been better to keep Zardes, who can also play RM, now that we have Zlatan. Hindsight and all that, though.
Actually, goal scorers NOT dependent on good service are few and far between. And you are right, as constituted and as playing this LAG isn't providing much by way of good service, so Zardes would struggle here. I am happy for him that he has found a place and a coach which can "put him in a position to succeed" as the current sports nostrum says.

Told that Jermaine Jones is in Kansas City for a USSF B license coaching course, not to sign with SKC. I know, total buzzkill.— Sam Stejskal (@samstejskal) May 16, 2018
