For the Continental Championship, Bruce Arena put all of his big guns on the field to take on a tough Panama squad which has played the US well in two out of their last three meetings. Although knocks to Donovan and Beasley in Thursday night's semifinal kept them out of the lineup, and a fatigued John O'Brien was not able to play, the US came out with a classy veteran lineup.

For various reasons, none of the above 11 was available for the Gold Cup Final. Please consider that before moaning and/or bitching.

For the continental championship, we started a central defender who was uncapped before this tournament.

Needing fresh legs in attack, we brought in two MLS players who were uncapped before this tournament.

Unbelievably, those two guys buried penalties for the win.

Coaching, etc., etc., almost seemed irrelevant. We had no one left with fresh legs.
