The national level in sports may be a bit different in Sweden but it is fairly common here even just counting the top level of national sports, but normaly only if they change sports. In the same sport I can only think of: Sven Dahlkvist (soccer: Swedish MNT and star in Allsvenskan) and Lisa Dahlkvist (soccer: Swedish WNT and made the deciding PK is the Sweden-USA semi 2016). And Ulrika Knape - Anna Lindberg, both diving, althoug Anna wasn't fully up to her mothers level she still toke ten medals in the European Chamiponships six of them gold.
Three other father-son pairs that all played for the USMNT: James and George Brown Harry and Ty Keough Phillip and Joe Gyau James Brown and Harry Keough both played in the World Cup, Brown in 1930 and Keough in 1950. James Brown and George Brown are father-son Hall of Famers. Other USMNT players with prominent soccer fathers are Kenny Cooper and John Kerr Jr. Both fathers were NASL stars, but weren't yet American citizens in their playing days. Another on the horizon?: Claudio Reyna's son Gio may be USMNT material in a few years.
This is probably the most unique one because, if I recall correctly, his Mom Danielle Egan played for the USWNT!!!
Fawcett played for her WUSA team five weeks after she gave birth. A few years later, USA Today wrote a big article about athletes who returned to play soon after giving birth, and completely ignored Fawcett while citing a bunch of basketball players and tennis players who didn't come anywhere near to Fawcett's five weeks. It seems as though Morgan will be able to play by the Olympics, but will she be able to play well enough to deserve a place on the team? Could this be a case analogous to Rapinoe's early return in 2016? That was from an injury (knee?), but it seems a little similar. Our forwards are not as young as they once were. In 2023, Rapinoe, Morgan and Heath will be 38, 34 andf 35. Maybe Andonovski will see this as a chance to test some younger ones in a pressure competition before 2023.
A lot of track stars have come back even better after having a baby. Maybe most of them were in their early 20s, however.
See, I think she can come back fit, it’s the touch that you lose with long breaks. And what makes it even harder is as a striker, she gets few chances to begin with and has to capitalize on every opportunity she gets in front of goal. Goal scoring is such a finicky thing and you have to be really dialed in to be a clinical finisher. Even if she can’t make it back to the Olympics, I’m sure she’ll continue to be in the mix for the US team going forward. If anything, it just gives others opportunities and that’s always a good thing.
Yes. His current term runs through January 2021. I assume you meant precedent. Fawcett set an impressive one; she may have been an even better player after having kids (as well as perhaps being the most under-rated player in USWNT history).
The announcement anticipates birth in April 2020. Doing the math backwards suggests that this baby is a product of World Cup championship celebration. Perhaps it gives new meaning to the expression "celebrating in style." Best wishes to the expecting couple.
Personally, I thought she was playing pregnant at the World Cup. Her touch was off and her play was just a little different than it has been all these years. Let's see when the baby is actually born. Best wishes to the parents and the family to be.
For a while, I thought, Amy Rodriguez came back better than ever. Her shooting was more accurate for Kansas City the season she came back.
Well, with the baby due in April, she didn't get pregnant until just after the WC. As many had noted prior to the World Cup, her touch was off almost all year. She had been out of form for several months prior to the WC (for club and country) and had very, very poor outings in the Sendoff Series.
She was late. At 1130am on May 7 weighing 8lbs5oz, Charlie Elena Carrasco made her grand entrance into the world. She made us wait longer than expected, but I should have known she would do it her way and her way only. My super moon baby. pic.twitter.com/dDbIXW6INr— Alex Morgan (@alexmorgan13) May 9, 2020
YA SEE, YA SEE .... the child is already balancing that round object on her head!!! Told you. Congrats to her Mom and Dad.
just the state of the world/media/internet (of course the world is the media which is the internet), but these days I always think... ...how many takes? still. she is amazing.
