Lets keep this FUTSAL ONLY. Semi-final: Uzbekistan* 2:2 Thailand Iran 13:1 Vietnam 5th place: Australia 3:1 Kyrgzstan 3rd place: Thailand:Vietnam Final: Uzbekistan:Iran
Iran destroyed Vietnam (13-1). We got Japan's revenge. I still want Japan to play against us. Still wonder how Japan lost to this team. It should be fluke.
Vietnam somehow managed to take away the title of "the worst defeat of the tournament" from Iraq. The elite club of "Iran 13 >" with two proud members, Vietnam and Iraq.
After being horribly disappointing and being in decline for the past 4 years, the team has finally picked itself up again. Massive props to the coach, despite not knowing who he is. I was disappointed that Shamsaei didn't get the job, but clearly the best man did get the job though. I just hope they won't choke in the upcoming WC and finally become champions. They truly deserve it. Oh and the head coach is Iranian. Funny how Iran has had the best results in Football and Futsal with Iranian coaches yet the haters are gonna hate irrespective of facts and statistics.
In before Iraqis start claiming to be better than Japan because they "only" lost to us by a margin on 11 goals.
Congrats Iran. Finally you guys gained some consolation after the failures at the Asian Cup and Olympic qualification. Based on the results, Iranian football has been on the decline since the World Cup, but hopefully this victory gives their football team a chance to bounce back.
5 asian teams who will participate in the FIFA World Cup in Colombia : Uzbekistan (first time) Thailand Iran Vietnam (first time) Australia OT: AFC decided to create the U20 Futsal Championship. Qualifiers: 1-11 December 2016. Competition: 11-21 May 2017.
why do we always play to the level of our opponent in important matches? judging from our previous matches in this tournament we were expected to win by 4-5 goals, yet it was a close encounter. this can only be mental. physically, this team would have easily won this game by 4-5 goals and is in another league than uzbekistan. this is why we usually choke at the world cup despite being the 5th/6th best team in the world. this match was too close for comfort and does not bode well for our world cup chances. all of the previous matches in this tournament were inspiring for our chances in the world cup, as we have absolutely dominated asia at the levels we usually do (that were not seen in the past few editions of afc fustal championship), but then we get this final. however, i hope we can somehow get 3rd place in the world cup this time. but it would require getting drawn with brazil/spain in the semifinal instead of the 3rd place match and also avoiding them in any other knockout game before that, and not choking against italy/argentina/russia/portugal. we have the ability to do this if we get some luck and its our day, as long as our biggest enemy (ourselves) doesnt get in the way. but i think another reason that Iran underperforms in the world cup is that we have no competition in asia and thus we have less decent practise for the world cup, compared to the other top 5/6 teams who regularly play european or south american teams which keep their skills more honed.
right now in asian fustal there is Iran, who is by far the best team. Iran scored 48 goals in this tournament and conceded 4. thats 8 goals scored/match and less than 1 goal/match conceded (which is mind blowing in futsal). then you have thailand/uzbekistan, and then another gap and teams like japan/vietnam/kyrgyzstan. its shocking to see how japan have regressed so horrifically. from being the close 2nd best to not being in the top 3. wtf. but i bet they will rebound soon.
Asian Futsal: - 23-31 July 2016 : AFC Futsal Club Championship - 11-21 May 2017: AFC U-20 Futsal Championship - 13-22 October 2017 : AFC Futsal Qualifiers (West and Central Zones) 1-11 November 2017: AFC Futsal Qualifiers (Asean and East zones)
Don't watch their matches, but I guess this is the effect of don't having Brazillians in the team anymore. If you remember the match 2 years ago in final, it was a massive hold-up. Japanese barely had 3 goal chances for 40 minutes but still they almost won the match despite Iran was bombarding their goal for all the match and had 10/15 100% goal chances but missed everything. Same thing happened in overtime and they finally won on PK, as always we held our reputation of losing in Penalties. All that to say that they were already at least a level under Iran despite doing everything to reach our level, now if they have stopped to invest in Futsal this is a normal result. Generally Japan's success in football is due to intensive team work (organization, coordination) and discipline, plus stamania etc ... Otherwise when they miss anything on this, they got smocked easily on world level and have hard time to beat any other Asian team in Top 10. They have maybe 2 or 3 technically gifted players with Honda of course and Kagawa, otherwise the rest is absolutely nothing special. Mostly in comparison of a team such as Korea, which has the proper physic and players technically gifted, at least the usual level of Korean players is much higher than their Japanese counterparts, and they are much more interesting to watch.
