Pissed? This is me happy. The Union are above the redline (pay no attention to PPG). We're talking PLAYOFFS here. I'm just having fun, or as they say, "Taking the Mickey Mouse" or something. I'm too busy researching Creed songs for the other thread to get snippy about who comes to play us. Frankly, I'm surprised anyone comes here at this point. There are much shinier and happier MLS places to go for foreign teams. I'm impressed Sak had enough juice to snooker the AFCB FO to come. You want to see pissed, wait'll the Bournemouth players step off the bus.
Highlights: Blimey, their Cappo stands look about as much fun as Wembley! Jeff's excited as philadelphia is where America was invented. Washington redskins weren't available, obviously. It's where the cheese comes from. Awesome, their ground's got a beer garden I've never taken it, but I thought Brauhaus Schmitz regularly runs a shuttle down on game days?
Don't think of it as a car park. Hanging out by the river, watching the ships go by, beer in hand, playing games, chatting to folks, it's very very nice. (And I'm British)
Actually, yes I have. On three occassions, the last was the Army-Navy game. I had dinner with Nick and a few other people. He was a pretty decent guy the few times that I have been in his presence. Hell, he would not even be the runner-up to "biggest a-hole at PPL" that I've run into. That honor would go to the buck-toothed Cretin that felt the need to tell my 17 year old daughter to go F herself because she dared to tell him to not steal the license plate off of a friend of ours' car. He fortunately decided to stand down when I told him of his need to apologize to her. Good times.
I don't think I'd want to tailgate if I went over to England for a game. I'd want to experience their tradition of pre-gaming in their pubs. But when here? Tailgate. The best part of the tailgate is the reasonably price beverage in my hand, but he can go gladly pay the 400% mark-up in an American bar.
I sometimes go and watch my local Team the Carolina Railhawks ( no laughing please ) with some American Pals. We always go to the Pub first cos they dont like Tailgating and also because the Barmaid has huge tits.
@ScottyMac26 You indeed have a right to be pissed off. It must have been a torrid time in your long 5 year history. Given a Football Team that goes straight into the Top League in the country, a shiny new Stadium with no chance of Relegation. Must be hell
You could at least do a little homework. Here's some light reading: http://www.phillysoccerpage.net/2014/10/22/union-fans-want-sakiewicz-out-heres-why/
At least yours dont come on the pitch drunk as shit and trying to pick a fight with 500 fans like our old one did
So seems here not a lot of understanding where the cherries are coming from. This team was minutes away from being relegated from league 2 (that is league 4 for those of you that do not know English football. That is essentially falling to the YMCA adult leagues. Saved at the last minute with some funding. Since then they have rocketed up League 2 to League 1, LEague 1 to the championship and now the champ to Premier. Imagine that awesome ride as a fan. This was all in a short time frame. Now they just got Atsu one of my fav African players unused by Chelsea. This guy can fly. This team conquers. Doesn't come new into a league and barely stay alive. Two years in the Championship to outright win it!
http://www.statto.com/football/teams/afc-bournemouth/2008-2009 Six years, up four divisions. Thank you swd1974. ....and we were deducted 17 points before tat season.
Your drunk manager and rags to riches story have me moderately more interested in going to this game, I'll admit. Last year's friendly against Crystal Palace was fun.
