It's so sad. His is one of the most tragic spirals of a former world-class player I've seen. To think that 10 years ago his career had begun to take off when he equalized against Argentina in the 2004 Copa America final, followed 1 year later by a missile-like strike against Greece.

4 years ago when he was already shaky, Dunga gave him a few chances in World Cup qualifying. He was ultimately left off the roster for South Africa and Dunga said it succinctly: “Demos inúmeras oportunidades ao Adriano, buscando reverter uma situação adversa para o próprio jogador, mas chegou um momento que tivemos que tomar uma decisão pelo coletivo, e não pelo individual.”

Had Adriano had the help he needed – or sought the help that could’ve kept him in shape, physically and mentally – he may well have participated in the 2010 World Cup. This doesn’t mean we would have won, but had he never gone into any decline at all, I can only wonder what it would’ve been like with him in top shape alongside Robinho and Luís Fabiano 4 years ago.

He has been irresponsible, and what he does has repercussions. Still, it’s too bad that a former starter of our NT ended up this way. He’s still young and probably knows he needs some kind of radical intervention. If only Garrincha had been wise enough to avoid the fate he had.

He actually said he felt like his mission was accomplished at Atletico-PR  ... I am not sure what that mission was. I don't like to make fun of him because God knows if he is still suffering from depression. Hope he finds his way on but most importantly off the field if that's the case.

It is a little pathetic but he did make a lot of improvements and when I look at some of these rosters I am optimistic he will sign with a team. Problem is it needs to be soon.

Being in Rio is probably the last thing he needs.

My guess is he ends up in the MLS. He'd probably end up with a life jail sentence if he played in an Arab country lol.

Gee, stop being a malandro wife. He beats, cheats you, clean your bank account to pay for booze and whores, and in the end of the day you are on bed waiting for him with your legs wide open?

@anterogreco: Palmeirenses fiquem tranquilos: o clube vai dar uma chance para Adriano Imperador. Ele virá por produtividade. Ou seja, será grátis.

Not too worried. These "big" signing rumors never come through with Palmeiras. Over the years I've heard Ronaldo, Romario, Ronaldinho and etc ...

Would have been nice to see him in the Paulista. I can't even watch Ligue 2.

So sad what happened to him. We could have used him this World Cup. Heck he could have possibly been used for 2018 like Klose if he was really serious about his career.

did anyone seriously doubted that would happen? Thats why I told Mengão86 earlier to stop being a malandro's wife... Adriano won´t change. He is NOT the prodigal son who made one mistake and returned home. He makes mistakes upon mistakes.

and without a job, and spending money, it would obvious he would soon turn again to his drugdealing friends.

to foreigners: in the first photo, he is doing C.V. with his fingers... the initial letters to COMANDO VERMELHO, Rio's largest drugdealing gang.
