    Kinda weird. I thought that Brazilian station is paying $500 million for the Brazil's rights which would make it the 'largest contract for any single country'. Maybe the $ is not US Dollars. Kinda ironic that the USA has the largest World Cup TV rights contract.

    More info: From the articles, Europe pays $1.2 billion for the 2010 World Cup rights.

    That's around $45 million a year for a sponsorship deal. Compare that to what MLS makes each year, that's a staggering amount.

    That's $212.5 million a year in the current contract. The next deal would be bigger if Ed Moorhouse is to be believed (with NBC, CBS and Comcast's Golf Channel).
