Philadelphia Union at DC United Estadio RFK Sunday July 26, 2015 5PM ET TV: ESPN2 Cute baby Animal: Turkeys. Since Ben Franklin wanted the national bird to be the Thanksgiving bird and Ben is from Philly, you're getting baby turkeys. Gobble Gobble. Still disappointed from last week's game, let's move on and get three points.
Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler Now that his Gold Cup is over, can Saborio work his way into the lineup? Or is he a 60th-minute sub? R.
Philly have had our number this year. MLS and Open Cup up there, and we were lucky to win the MLS game here. 3 points is a must.
Phuck the Phlyers! ps- I don't necessarily like the L associated with Quaranta it should have been associated with Salazar! And Quaranta rolls up his jacket and shirt to show off his gold watch, so I felt the watch should have mentioned instead! pps-but yeah I voted for the Dave Johnson screams when the head moves, that was brilliant!!! Not that I think we'll get a win (I am assuming that is what the W stood for).
Santino was placed with the L option only because Dave Johnson keeps busting his b@lls about his shirts. Hoping Saborio, Espindola and Rolfe can score some goals this weekend
Stop by 232 if you're close by. I always like to put a face to the person I'm arguing with. ) J/K! Serious about stopping by though. My kids (and wife) should be there as well.
Philly just knocked nj out of the open cup via penalties. They did it after going down to 10 men in the 40th minute. Plus they scored a goal during regulation while down a man. They showed grit, determination, and did it away from home. We're screwed.
Took me a minute to figure out what you meant! Haha. No, I just assumed I'd recognize you as the guy being harassed by two young kids wanting dippin' Dots! And that was mostly Philly's starters. Sheanon Williams and Aristoguieta didn't start, but did play 60 and 30 min respectively. 5 starters played all 120 minutes. That said though, I don't think Philly has too many recovery problems. 120 on a Tuesday before a very short road trip on the following Sunday shouldn't pose too many recovery problems I don't think.
They also had a game this past weekend and a midweek friendly (I think, although I doubt any starters played). Hey, it's better than them having a whole week to rest. But will likely not make much difference if we don't score goals. Hopefully Ben recognizes what we all do about what's not working and changes things up a bit. Depending on who is healthy of course.
Playing @Olsenaccio, i.e. sitting back and hoping to steal a goal, it is not going to matter how tire the other team is as DC United is not going to put them on their heels and punish them.
McCarthy was standing on his head. NYRB played most of the game in Philly's 18-yard box. The only reason NY couldn't score is because they were trying to run a lot of the play through Connor Lade for some reason. Edu also made some critical tackles to thwart BWP. Worth nothing that Sapong didn't play so he'll be fresh. Let's just hope that we can score a goal this game (I'll take another own goal if that's what we are reduced to).
It was enjoyable to watch them beat NJ last night, and it should be even more enjoyable to watch them lose to us on Sunday. PS Sunday games are for sucks
First XI for #DCU in training: Dykstra; Birnbaum, Boswell, Halsti, Kemp; Doyle, Arnaud, Kitchen, Rolfe; Espindola, Saborio— Thomas Floyd (@ThomasFloyd) July 22, 2015 Is Opare in the PanAm Games?
Philly or the Metros? Thx, Jay! Edit: because the metros are the ones who have to play Chelsea today.
Thanks. I agree they have good recovery time, and I figured Philly would go for it in the USOC, but was just curious if everyone played or if they mixed it. Anyone know if the team still publishes a matchday guide on the website for home matches? It had a timeline, vendors, activities, etc...
You never realize how much you like Korbles until you see the lineup where he's replaced at right back by Steve Birnbaum.
