That was a nice highlight package. Good stuff.

Bad call on the yellow in the box against Braunschweig's Kruppke (?).

From the camera position it is hard to judge, because another player hides the potential contact. In real time I would have said penalty, too, but the referee had a clear view and made his judgement at once.

I wouldn't have given the penalty, but it looked like his heel was clipped, no foul, but no dive either.

Does he have a reputation for diving?

The second goal was kinda nice, btw - nothing you'll tell your kids about or anything, but if you only want to watch a part of the game, skip to minute 93 of the video.

    Re: 3. Liga 2010/2011 [R]

After most of the games postponed back in December have been played now, the table looks much clearer:

    1. Eintracht 24 +45 55
    2. Rostock 24 +29 54
    ----------------------
    3. Offenbach 23 +12 43
    ----------------------
    4. RW Erfurt 24 +13 40
    5. Wehen 24 + 8 40
    6. Heidenheim 22 +12 36

Erfurt and Heidenheim are officially back (Koblenz and Dresden still with chances too), while Offenbach lost quite some ground.

    Re: 3. Liga 2010/2011 [R]

Offenbach have fired coach Wolfgang Wolf. Don't want to go all told you so, but as soon as you take out their strikers Offenbach don't have that great of a team, which shows now.

    Table after matchday 26:

    1. Eintracht 61:11 61
    2. Rostock 53:24 57
    ---------------------
    3. Offenbach 41:30 44 (1 game in hand)
    ---------------------
    4. Wehen 36:26 43
    5. Erfurt 43:30 42
    6. Koblenz 29:29 40
    7. Heidenheim 48:38 39 (1 game in hand)
    8. Dresden 31:28 36 (2 games in hand)

Looks pretty good for Eintracht and Rostock now. Eintracht now 16 games undefeated (13 wins, 3 draws).

Wow! That's crazy! 3rd place and fired the coach, guess they expected promotion and won't get it now.

    Re: 3. Liga 2010/2011 [R]

Well, Offenbach HAS been in horrible form for months. It's only masked by their great run at the beginning of the season. On matchday 13 they lead the league with 32 points. Now look where they are standing after matchday 26... (still third, of course, but only 12 points more - although with a game in hand still).

Officially the club wants promotion until 2012 (so if they only get it next season that would be still within the officially stated goals), but with the new stadium being build and the team showing no signs of improving at all, they probably got nervous. If they don't turn it around soon they won't even make the play off - everyone else is gaining on them.

    Re: 3. Liga 2010/2011 [R]

The top 3 now after the make up games:

    1. Eintracht 27 +52 64
    2. Rostock 27 +32 60
    ----------------------
    3. Offenbach 27 +11 47

Eintracht needs 17 points out of 11 games now to ensure promotion, assuming Offenbach wins all of their remaining games, and Rostock doesn't implode. This should be possible.

Looks like a crazy battle for promotion in RLN indeed. ;)

Tbh, I don't have a problem with Braunschweig getting promoted, I want to
attend a derby again in my lifetime so I guess I even want them to make the 1. BL. Just for one bad season. :D

Prepare for us to stay longer. There is finally sound long term planning, for the first time in decades. :) Next season will be crucial, though. A good finish could speed up things by building up on the momentum already gained.

    Re: 3. Liga 2010/2011 [R]

The series of undefeated games ends with a somewhat unlucky defeat in Erfurt - but it was bound to happen sooner or later, and Erfurt is one of the more difficult places to play. As Rostock and Offenbach drew, there is little change in the table. Next week Rostock travels to Braunschweig, game has already been sold out for 2 weeks. An Eintracht win would obviously be kinda cool - but the games against the top teams aren't really that important anymore. Eintracht has 6 home games and 4 away games remaining, most of those against teams from the lower half of the table. Winning against those teams should be enough, as it is very, very unlikely for a team to miss automatic promotion with 79 or 80 points.

With 79 points promotion is guaranteed. Offenbach has 10 matches left, Dynamo Dresden 11. So both teams can collect 78 points if they win all remaining matches.

So 5 wins and Eintracht is back where it belongs. :)

Not to jump the gun, but what are the expectations for next season in Braunschweig? Are you hoping for mid table in BL 2 and build towards promotion or do you feel you should be right in the promotion hunt immediately?

    Re: 3. Liga 2010/2011 [R]

Well, I wouldn't be against doing an Aue, certainly - but staying clear of relegation should be the first priority. There's no need to hurry, and financially the club still can't compete with the top teams in the league.

But the team is shaping up nicely for next season - almost all regulars have extended their contract, Bellarabi is the only starter who will leave the club so far (Kumbela, Vrancic, Reichel, and Fuchs are the only other regular players without a contract for next year - an in all cases contract extension doesn't look too unlikely). Add 4 nice new signings (including a left back, a winger, and a striker) and this will be a competitive 2. Bundesliga team.

Anyway - Offenbach drew Koblenz today. They are still third, but now they are in danger of finally losing the play off spot. Dresden is 1 point behind them, but has one game in hand - if they win this game they will overtake Offenbach.

Tomorrow (well, today here technically) there's the game between Eintracht in Rostock, also live on NDR.
