Hard to schedule a game when the parking lots are full of horse trailers and the like, on top of it being a pretty big deal in the horse world. Feel free to look it up and educate yourself.
Trust me...Minnesota would be more than happy to change conferences if the two teams next year were LAFC and Sacramento Republic...

You know, I wonder if Miami FC have already talked with the Mayor and are freezing out Beckham. I wonder if people around there like him as much as he thinks they do. And looking around at the league at gametime temperatures and cancellations this week, I'm thinking that MLS will be looking at increasing the number of southern latitude cities that wouldn't have a problem with early-March/late-November matches. To me, that would move Sacramento, Phoenix, San Diego, Tampa, Charlotte/Raleigh to the top of the expansion list. I think three of those six teams will take spots, with Detroit and whoever has the better portfolio between between St Louis and Cincinnati (maybe both if Miami is doomed).
North Carolina FC just brought the 2 huge youth leagues of the Raleigh area under their umbrella to strengthen their MLS bid, good move in my eyes. http://www.espnfc.us/major-league-s...youth-player-development-in-mls-expansion-bid
That CHevrolet sponsorship is meant for Asia. By the way, General Motors just sold Opel/Vauxhall to Peugeot/Citroën.
I like a 3-conference setup as well, but if we're talking 28 (or 32) teams, you'd end up with something uneven. (It would work for 30 or 36, though.)
I doubt you'll see three. Given the allocation of CCL spots, I can see the league keeping two conferences - which would continue to reward two teams for being the best teams in their conference during the regular season. What we'll likely see is the introduction of divisions.
Something about the two years of the Central Division's existence really captures the imagination of a few people. I have nothing against the idea, but it's not coming back.
I think what the guy meant was that MLS eventually will go to four divisions within two conferences. As MLS goes up to 28 teams, I think that makes a lot of sense. It would foster regional rivalries and cut down on travel distance.
I could see a division of the eastern conference being called the Central and including Chicago, Columbus, and Orlando, a semi-heir of Tampa. And New Tampa, if that works out. It could be a nice little tip of the hat to history if they occasionally use the old logo, too.
30 teams and 3 conferences would be quite interesting. Play everyone in your conference twice and every team from the other 2 conferences once. That would be 38 games and put us inline with the other leagues. Playoff situation would definitely need to be worked on. I would seed everyone into a bracket based on points.
3 conferences will come about because of more than the current 30 teams. Jake Edwards told Evan Ream that 6-8 will be added over the next 3 years. Nashville is already confirmed for next year while Baltimore, Fresno and D.C. II in NoVa are reportedly close to being finalized. It's possible some smaller teams like Harrisburg self relegate to PDL like Wilmington did or some bigger independents get accepted into MLS to bring the net number back down, but it's still likely to land higher than 30.
Hey I like that old logo. I have an old Mutiny training shirt I've been meaning to take to Columbus to get Frankie Hejduk to sign.
