Agreed that this logo would look much better in its original colors... if that is the MLS policy, blame the Philadelphia Union and their original deal with Bimbo then now
They did, in fact. First they raffled off 11 of them. And then they announced that, what the heck, every employee (including @falvo) would receive one, and the players would be handing them out to them where they were seated. Toward, the end, Shea Salinas was wandering about with an extra kit and no takers. I sauntered up to him and said I would take it off his hands for him. But he recognized me (as obviously not an Intermedia employee), smiled and shook my hand, and so my scheme (to acquire a free kit that wouldn't fit, anyway) was thwarted. Drats.
Salinas gave me the shirt instead. I also thanked him for his years of service and his goal against the Gals. I told him it was a thing of beauty! I was going to say something about his miss from 1 yard out but didn’t have the heart!
The 2020 San Jose Earthquakes jersey sponsor is ... a whole lot better than no sponsor!! So kudos to the FO for getting this done. (And yes, we complain that they didn't get it done sooner, but that might be a result of our small-minded owner not spending enough money to make us relevant.) GO Quakes!! Fisher OUT!! - Mark
Hey Falvo, according to what I read on twitter -- I think it was attributed to Fisher -- the Quakes have been Intermedia's customer for 5 years. Is that correct? I thought they used Avaya and then 8x8.
Not sure but I think they had an account for a while. Our CEO and Fisher are very good friends and that made the sponsorship possible. Supposedly, it took like five years to make it happen.
I am fine with the sponsor mark on the jersey. I only wish it was not adorning such an ug-tastic jersey. The current home kits are in the running for the worst ever Earthquakes jerseys, IMO.
Of course, the only thing that really matters is the amount of profit remaining from the incoming cash flow. A stadium or jersey sponsorship should either have some direct impact on sales or status of the company, both of which arguably increase the profit, one way or another.
LOL! All my coworkers keep coming up to me and telling me that I have had a smile from ear to shining ear since I found out that our company is sponsoring the Earthquakes! Business in the Cloud or Cloud 9?
I certainly hope that those who end up controlling the tickets knows the company has a Quakes super-fan in their midst. You would be great in helping those others they bring into the suite to understand the game and the history of the team.
I met the CFO and told him Gary Singh, who was standing there, literally wrote the book on the team. He seemed genuinely interested in acquiring it from the merchandise shop.
That's nice to hear. I know these suites are mostly just schmooze locations, but, Falvo would be a great ambassador to have there.
The CFO, wants the book but he said when he asked @GarySingh , he didn't sound like he had anymore.... Thanks a lot. When I was talking to Fioranelli and Almeyda, I went on and on about Geroge Best and told him my mom's family name is on the wall as the first season ticket holders in 1974. They were trying to listen to our CEO but I didn't care LOL..... Slowly but surely, I think the marketing department is figuring that out also. I think my week long smile has given me away. I do well with foreign languages but couldn’t ever hang with German or French. I do ok imitating Portuguese , speaking Spanish and Italian. If they need a translator for Latin America, Spain , Portugal or Italy, I'm there! Saludos! Saluti!
"San Jose Earthquakes partner with Intermedia on jersey sponsorship deal" (Pro Soccer USA - Wednesday, 1/22/20) GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
" “Naming rights to the stadium will be coming next,” Shawlee said. “There’s nothing to announce yet, but with the jersey sponsorship completed before opening day, myself and the staff turn our attention and focus to the stadium.” The Quakes COO also said that the team is nearing a deal on a sleeve sponsor as well. This year, MLS will allow teams to have sponsor patches on one sleeve of their uniforms, adding another potential revenue stream that Shawlee is keen to tap."
Since we're not spending anything on players, can the revenue streams be used to subsidize affordable hot dogs and beer?
