that's not confirmed, we just hope we'll be exempt They've done it that way the past few drafts, so hopefully they'll continue. But this is MLS.
The one young player who showed any form of improvement under Caleb Porter in season 1 is now gone. Caleb Porter enters season 2 as head coach of the Columbus Crew with zero positive accomplishments. But at least he said he expects Artur and Will Trapp to score more. It's gonna be a long four years....
Whatever. Keita & Maloney. Yes, Argudo was good value. But he also had all of one goal (I think that is right) and was firmly slated in as the #4 winger. Hardly cause for the sky falling. Yeesh.
Pedro Santos, Waylon Francis returning to near 2015 all star form, Buba Keita getting minutes as a starter, getting Luis Diaz integrated and playing well immediately. More than just Luis Argudo’s 5 game hot stream and subsequent benching.
Pedro Santos isn’t young. Waylon Francis near all star form?!?! For ********s sake Kyle. You are trying way too hard. Keita getting minutes as a starter. After Sauro left, and sometimes ahead of Josh Williams. I guess. Though not nearly enough. And notably, you didn’t say he improved. I agree. We spent a sum of money on a winger to upgrade where Porter was getting minimal production. Diaz acclimated. True. Is that credit to Porter? If so the lashings you gave Mokhtar throughout the season show that Porter failed to acclimate him. I’ll give you Maloney. He’s a feel good story for a 22nd place team. Like a September call up for a baseball team that’s already 29 games under .500 who hits .270 and steals a few bases. The fans scream WE CAN BUILD ON THIS. No. Not really....
Willfull ignorance, purposely missing the point, caps lock, failure to address to the point at hand and/or acknowledge the errors in the previous post. This is "dialogue" from our esteemed moderator. To think you once showed the potential of a near all star form Waylon Francis in 2015. And now, this..... Woof.
Farewell Luis Argudo edition. I cannot wait for expansion to be over. Probably need another player all through MF now that the Swiss army knife is gone. DP CAM, winger, CM. Defense looks set: Afful, Mensah, Keita, Valenzuela, Cadden, Williams, Francis. Bringing back Maloney would also be nice. A 3rd keeper somewhere. Not sure what is up with Hamilton. But he, Romario, or a someone else for a 3rd/4th striker is needed. A. Rules & Regs (2019) Link: https://www.mlssoccer.com/league/official-rules/mls-roster-rules-and-regulations B. General Stuff: 1. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...-very-early-guide-top-contenders-greg-seltzer Seltzer lists us as one of the early favorites to win it all next season.
Yes but I was speaking in general - our competitor improved their team at our expense (yes, I know we get some allocation money, but it is our expense). And to speak specifically, the "deadweight" is offloaded prior to the draft (the roster decisions to extend or not renew). And in this case, the "...one young player who showed any form of improvement under Caleb Porter in season 1" sounds not like dead weight.
I agree it's dumb until and unless we bring in an attacking player of the caliber that other contenders have. I'm also concerned about centerback, and I would love to get confirmation that Milton will ready to play in Feb/March (I have my doubts that he'll be fully fit). But, all in all, we look to be vastly improved compared to last year, even now. Among the league's elite? I just don't see it yet. I mean, yeah, it's about the players, and we're not there yet. But we still do need to see proof that Porter can get this team playing like a contender. In that regard, my soul isn't as dark as Hang's or Bach's, but I still need to see some proof before I'll allow myself to believe that Porter can get us to the promised land.
And it's a decent take. We had a lot of guys miss time from injuries, we get a full season with Room and Diaz, we add Nagbe, etc. I also assume they looked at the bad teams from this past season, ignored FCC because LOL, and boom, we were selected as a potential darkhorse.
You'd typically pick a dark horse from a fringe playoff team or a team that didn't make the playoffs. We finished 22nd last year. We are one of maybe 8 teams that some journalist would throw a dart at and say, "DARK HORSE!!!"
We got better when Diaz showed up. We got better still when Diaz started to get the hang of this league. We got better when Santos figured out and adjusted to his new role in the post-Higuain system. A full preseason for Santos, Diaz, and Nagbe together could see us have a much better 2020.
