At the breakfast event I made a comment about the red cards. It seemed to me that Jesse agreed with both your points and he elaborated some more on last year's red cards. Your examples match up with what he was saying about mental errors and how players were responding and how the team needs to learn from this. He also said something about Wondo getting a red card while on the bench. He added that he expected the team to get red cards again this year, the question will be how will the team respond to it.
I asked Jesse if the pundits were accurate when they said last year that other teams had figured out the Quakes and that by year's end they were copying each to successfully stop the Quakes. If I remember correctly, he disagreed, stating that if you examine the games, you'll see that different teams were doing different things. I got the impression that he thought the poor results were more a result of the Quakes' own play rather than that of the opponents.
"A new partnership." That seems to confirm it's a new sponsor. Certainly seems like a jersey sponsor from the video. Hopefully both jersey and stadium.
Maybe just coincidence, but several Stanley tools on that tool pegboard in the clip. Stanley Black & Decker is the jersey sponsor for Barcelona's women's team. And they are a Fortune 500 company.
Definitely jersey. I crawled through it stop/start. Looks like one of those heat press machines for putting numbers and lettering on jerseys. Quick glimpse of lettering was SALIN...assuming Salinas. The dude is reaching for some blue? tape on a wall full of tools (looks like all Stanley)...It would be funny if it was Stanley. Yeah, I'm starved for Quakes news and ready for the preseason to start...
Virtual Sky Boxes brought to you by Skype. You too can pretend you're at the stadium in Virtual Reality but with a much worse view than the TV broadcast you could be watching. Included for free is all the lag you've come to expect with Skype.
Back in the Dave Kaval days I remember telling me he was shooting for a sponsor who would put their name on both the stadium and the jersey. The video makes it look like it's the jersey, but I did want to point out that there can be a larger third option.
It does make you wonder if Lowes or Ace or something is getting in on the game (along with HomeDepot in LA).
It would be kind of ironic if it was Lowe's, seeing they closed down their store adjacent to the stadium.
I, for one, would enjoy seeing two stadium sponsors in a row go bankrupt before the end of the sponsorship agreement.
Was it almost identical to Agent Cooper's first dream sequence in the Red Room in Twn Peaks? GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
I hear from my company the Quakes are announcing something big today at the stadium. I'll know more later..... Maybe they hired Hakan Şükür to work with the forwards?
I know I saw that...but supposedly, the company I work for will be involved somehow. Not sure in what capacity though.....
A stadium sponsor would be nice, but I'm pretty underwhelmed by the rest of the pre-season news. This idea that we can succeed with an almost identical roster to last year "because Fierro and Rios will have the benefit of a full off-season with Mattias" seems delusional to me. Mattias is a good coach, but he's not a magician, and he can't turn the sow's ear (i.e. Quakes roster) into a silk purse...
The new sponsor will give us all the tools to hammer in more goals, cut open the opponents and bolt down the defense. Just hope that no one screw up. That's why we don't need any new players.
