I'm kind of hoping we crash out of this one. Our squad needs as much R&R as possible. And I don't see us winning it. I'm still slightly hopeful that we can grab the sixth playoff spot, and get a single home playoff game hosting the seventh seed. And then, who knows? If we can get in the post-season and not be burned out, anything is possible in the one-and-done format. Any "success" in the Open Cup makes all of the above less likely.
Huh? Only the top four seeds in each conference will get home playoff games in this year's single-elimination format. In the first round, #7 plays at #2, #6 plays at #3, and #5 plays at #4 (#1 gets the only bye). Edit: I guess you mean that we would host #7 in the second round. Possible, but not likely.
You are correct... I didn't think this through fully. I think it accurately reflects my enthusiasm and engagement at this point.
Minni United is still young in the league and hungry. They will come out with everything they have to win the game. I don't expect the same kind of push from SKC, especially since they will have Riley and Hernandez from the Rangers called up for the game to give the banged up SKC guys a break. I have rarely seen PV take a flyer on a game, but I don't sense a lot of enthusiasm for this tournament when SKC is struggling to make a playoff spot. On the other hand, SKC won't have another game for 11 days after this one. So PV could go all out and try to get a W which may be the tonic the guys need to put that winning mentality back in their heads. But, in the final analysis, I haven't got a clue what to expect.
To be fair, Minnesota doesn't look set to take this game very seriously either and they'll likely have a fair number of reserves in their lineup. Opara is out for "general" issues, Alonso won't play, they're apparently recalling their loaned players as well.
I've found the $5 or so extra a month for ESPN+ to be well worth it. You can watch just about anything, including SPR. Normally my opinion is that the Open Cup is the "consolation cup" and not worth messing with, but this year I'm 100 percent the opposite. I think the Open Cup is the only thing SKC have left to play for in 2019. I say go all in.
I treat it like PPV. I'll pay the $5 to watch something and then immediately unsubscribe from the auto-renewal. So I'll get it for the whole month, but it won't renew.
What a complete clown show at the back for SKC. MU scores in the first half and second half within the first 2 minutes. Ugly as hell. Medranda is healthy but not ready for prime time.
Fontas's recovery "speed" on full display on the second. He's weighed down by all that money he stole from Peter.
At this point I'm hoping Minnesota hangs 10 on this dogshit. Good thing the roster was built for success in 2019...... F'ing $1.7M tied up in Fontas and Croizet and another $600K wasted on Zusi. $900k on a holding mid. So much money pumped into a defense that is f'ing terrible. Time for some accountability.
