MASSIVE save by @RapidsAcademy U-17 goalkeeper Abe Rodriguez to help @SwitchbacksFC earn a win in their first match of the #USOC2019!#Rapids96 | #Elevate https://t.co/7e0Qo3EbpQ— Colorado Rapids (@ColoradoRapids) May 16, 2019
I think one of the announcers said an FC Denver player was a ticket rep for the Rapids? If so, kind of cool. Overall, great game and FC Denver gave the Switchbacks all they could handle.
So i noticed that the Switchbacks are playing New Mexico United in the 3rd round. 6ish hours to Albuquerque. That could be a fun trip for the 4th round if the rapids get them!
The 4th round will be set by drawing the 21 MLS teams and the 11 remaining lower-league teams into 8 regional groups of 4. 11 MLs teams will play a lower-league team, 10 will play another MLS team. A rough guess of what the groups out West might look like: Rapids, Minnesota, KC, Switchbacks/NM Dallas, Houston, Austin/ San Antonio, OKC/Tampa Seattle, Portland, San Jose, Fresno/Republic LAG, LAFC, Salt Lake, Vegas/Orange County I'm not sure there's a good mix that gets us two lower-league teams in our pod, which means the odds of us playing the Switchbacks/NM winner are only 50/50.
5️⃣ players with #Rapids96 ties helped @SwitchbacksFC advance to the third round of the #USOC2019 last night.https://t.co/b30zAh4uCM— Colorado Rapids (@ColoradoRapids) May 16, 2019 Not sure how I feel about possibility of playing Switchbacks in US Open Cup.
