It would be a decrease from 2018. Despite Portland expanding their stadium and FCC joining. So yes, it's bad.
We had a 21,873 average last year, if we do end up with 21,324 average that's not that big of a drop off. I guesstimated on the low end for Chicago, FC Dallas, Colorado, NYRB, NYCFC (a lot of Wednesday games), Montreal, Columbus, Houston and Vancouver. So if they show better than what I guesstimated we will be at or above last years number.
Oh, I thought you were saying that even if every remaining regular season game were a sellout, we'd be below last year's average?
I thought the same thing. The discussion was all about if every team sold out every remaining game could the league average 22,500. So I assumed that is what he did in his calculations.
If all the games were to sellout our average would be 22,400, just under the 22,500 goal and 527 per more than 2018 (21,837). Went with what wikipedia has for 100% capacity, expect for FC Dallas (post construction 19,500), NYRB (tarped off 21,000).
Ok, that's not so bad then. While of course not all the remaining games will sell out, we might match last year's average.
Where did you find this? I have been looking for it for a while. I have had others on BS tell me that the capacity hasn't changed even though it very clearly has.

Considering the number of midweek fixtures has increased it's not bad at all. Of course it won't stop the MLS critics from having a ****fest.
This year was shortened, and thus had more midweek games because they have to have a set number of weeks between the end of MLS Cup and the start of the new season per the CBA. Next year will start in February and end the same as this year, meaning it is very likely there will be less mid-week games.
Overall the league is down about 3% per game. The increase in Portland offsets the decrease in Minnesota. Columbus is up and Chicago down for ownership related reasons. What's the story in New England and Montreal? https://soccerstadiumdigest.com/2019-mls-attendance/
New England were averaging about 11,000 before Arena took over, so they've picked up a bit. Montreal are going nowhere fast.

FC Cincinnati (27,442 average) is also significantly over the 2018 average so they are pulling the average up. That means the downers are do more damage than the others. All 3 canadian teams are down. Vancouver is down over 2k per game. NYCFC is down over 2k per game. Actually there are only 6 teams that are up or even from last year are: Philly DC (even) SJ (even) LAFC (basically even) Portland Atlanta (even) 17 teams are down from last year, 1 team is new.
Columbus is up a couple thousand per game of course. It could have been more than that with a better schedule.
