CJ - for the #WICC week, where the important games are in Cary, NC. SB 0 vs Chi 2 Orl 2 vs Ut 1 Por 2 vs Was 0 SB 2 vs Reign 1
sorry guys missed this match on Wednesday due to sickness and sleeping 20 hours straight, was that the only game today?
Yes, but don't worry, @McSkillz: everyone but @Tapas&Fútbol (who made 1 point from predicting a 1-1 draw) has made exactly 0 points from Sky Blue FC vs Chicago Red Stars! If you weren't inclined to predict a 2-1 win by NJ, you basically missed nothing from forgetting about this match. In this week, I had actually put all of my money on Sky Blue making a good result in the week-end match vs Reign, not on Wednesday! Now, I wonder if that prediction couldn't be in danger too... Oh, well, as long as basically no-one makes points from games, I am ok with making 0 points too. In the end, it's not me the one chasing, right now.
Well, I completely missed ORL-UTA, but on the other hand I perfectly nailed POR-WAS. I made three points from these two games while most of the field (including the robot) made 4, or even 5, but it could have been worse. Now, my big bet is coming with the NJ-SEA game: boom or bust, guys.
Your 0-0 prediction may score some points. The BrainTrust says 1-1, but its detail says NJ 0.80 v SeaTac 1.40, which is an 0.60 goal differential that would round off to a goal differential of 1. My protocol requires the BrainTrust to round off the 0.80 and 1.40 to the nearest whole numbers, which is why it says 1-1 notwithstanding the goal differential.
And ... the winner for the week is the BrainTrust, with a relatively motley 7 points. A bunch followed with 6 and 5. Meanwhile, blissett continues at the top with a lead now of 5 points over Tapas&Futbol, followed a point later by the robot and the cyborg. Overall the standings are very close among the top 6, excelt for blissett's pretty sizeable lead. PS: I could be wrong about this, but in terms of the number of games played, we're right about where we were last year at the completion of Week 16 (which was about a month earlier that where we are right now). These indicate our human predictors are in the same range as they were last year at this time in the season. Only the robot is lagging -- by a lot from where it was last year.
I see we have two games on Wednesday, then four over the weekend. Here are the robot's predictions for the Wednesday games: Washington 1 v Utah 1 Chicago 2 v Orlando 1
Wait, is today Tuesday or Wednesday? LOL I dont' want to miss again. Darn these midweek games, this is what happens when California doesn't have a team for me.
Once again, the BrainTrust receives mixed signals: Spirit 0.88 v Royals 1.38 translates, under the BT rules, to 1-1. But, that's an 0.5 goals difference, which translates to a goal differential of 1 in favor of the Royals. Red Stars 2.50 v Pride 0.63 translates to 3-1, with a goal differential of 1.87. That works! EDIT: Oops, apparently I forgot to calculate after I entered McSkillz' prediction. It turns out that BrainTrust had to enter 1-2 for the Spirit v Royals game, which means it scored 0 for that game.
