Seeing as the 2019 season has started..............might as well have an IN-Season player movement rumor/discussion thread.

Does Gio Dos Santos OUT count for end of 2018 or beginning of 2019?

Hector Moreno apparently in advance negotiations with an MLS club.

There is some talk that Heber Araujo dos Santos, a Brazilian playing for 1st division Rijeka in Croatia, is headed to NYC. The guy is a 27 year old striker, who has done pretty well in the scoring department the last 2 seasons in Rijeka. Supposedly is in London (or headed there) for a physical (with CFG).

Wouldn't surprise me at all if that rumor is true. Nikolic is no longer getting it done for them, which is true across the board. But if they move him NOW, I am not sure what problem it solves. They better have a replacement lined up.

Wonder if that would piss Gaitan off at all? They couldn't give him a DP deal this year since they didn't have a DP slot. He is going to be a DP next year if they exercise his option but I could imagine being a little salty if they "lowballed" me due to rules and then within a month turned around and freed up a spot and paid someone big bucks.

Course they could also be putting Sapong up top. They have way too many internationals even without Gaitan on the roster yet (they have 9 slots, which are all filled, with 2 players on loan and Gaitan coming in). That would alleviate some of the international problems plus free up some of the congestion in the front 3 in that midfield. Djordje, Katai, Frankowski, Gaitan, and Sapong are all there right now fighting for starting spots with Martinez and Herbers fighting for the bench spots. Lot of wasted roster space there. Now, I'm not saying they should put Sapong up top as a replacement, just that roster compliance wise it works better than lining up an international replacement.

    No Pity in Atlanta?

Reports out of Atlanta saying that Pity Martinez isn’t liking living in the US and is blaming that for his poor perfirmance so far. Could be a short stay if that is true.

Does that translate as he doesn't like playing for FdB?

I think Brad needs to go in the same category as Mastroeni. Brilliant players, horrible horrible managers. But their level of play shouldn't be obscured by their (lack of) management careers.

    And go Rovers!

Sounds like the Revs were willing to go big and it didn't work out:

I personally think that is a little much for a player that hasn't exactly put up great numbers over the past several years. 8g/5a this year and 5g/5a in 17/18 are ok but I don't think worth 14 million total. Croizet put up 3g/4a in 16/17 and 9g/4a in 15/16 but has a total of 3g/3a in MLS. Now, they play different positions and I haven't seen Mpoku play so maybe his style fits MLS better than Croizet's does. But I think 14 million can get you a better player than that.

Would be great to see Lewis go somewhere where he can get regular playing time. Also would add some punch to the Rapids attack. Not sure it does much for the defense, though.

Sounders are reportedly bolstering their defense by signing Ecuadorian CB Xavier Arreaga and former Sounder LB Joevin Jones.

Personally, I was hoping they would add another midfield playmaker, or another forward. But they have been rather leaky the last few weeks...

In the last day there have been rumors that the Rapids traded $500K of funny money to NYCFC for Jonathan Lewis and that we've traded Benny Feilhaber to KC for Abdul Rwatubyaye and a draft pick. The latter at least has been somewhat confirmed by KC writers and Benny tweeting he was getting on a plain this morning to a fountain (KC is the city of fountains).

Essentially these would both be throwing in the towel on the 2019 season before the winter transfer window closed. As I told @Knave we're already toast, so it makes sense, but I'm not sure I've seen a team be so obvious about it this early in a season.
