Freddie Ljungberg (sp?) was a DP with Seattle. Was terrific before he trashed his hip And of course Zlatan is Swedish There have been others. Point is we're looking for contributors. Guys who are better than the guys we have now. I haven't ever heard of this guy but I bet hes better than several Crew players right now. So what's your beef?
Usually, when the headline says "REPORT" there's an actual report with sources and quotes and whatnot included. Not just a tweet of a rumor that the tweeter found by Googling random soccer players + Columbus Crew. I hate the silly season.
Like I said, he may not be Gods gift but hes a hell of an improvement over a couple guys who we'll be suiting up tonight
I’ll take anyone we can get but I want a big splash on a 10 . We have two decent wingers Accam and Pedro. Both probably gone next year but for the love of God get a CAM this summer

Sadly this team has zero offensive talent in the midfield and current signings will not help much without a 10. I hope Pedro is gone after the season.
Hammarby just signed USMNT striker Aron Johannsson (who hasn't played with the nats since 2015's Gold Cup), so Hatankovic is probably an extra at this point. Also, Berhalter's former team before he came to the Crew but they did not overlap.
This is my main beef if this 'report' is true. I want a proven player. Someone who has, you know, actually bagged double digit goals, somewhere, in a season. Of course, we have been running out guys who have played for us for multiple years (in some cases) and have 0-1-2 goals (Artur, Trapp, Guzman, Argudo, Robinho, Mullins, JJ, Meram return, Santos for a while). Hell, I long for Tony Tchani, Ekpo, Moffat, and Finlay at this point. Play Hansen more.
That's nice. And expensive. And tough to pull off. It's a little like Trujdib or whatever (sorry dude) who keeps yelling about a proven, big time 10 shirt. Well guess what: a proven big time tenshirt costs millions and millions and probably wouldn't come here anyway. A guy like Schelotto was like hitting th lottery, and you can certainly keep buying tickets, but at the same time you're going to be overspending on guys approaching the end of their careers who may or may not have much left and it's going to be extremely expensive to find out. Does that mean you don't keep looking? Of course not. You look hard and at some point you may find your man, but you can't just pick up the phone and order one like a pepperoni pizza. And even if we found Guille Jr. desperate to come explore soybean country, so what? Put GBS out there last week with that bunch of feebs and what would you have gotten? You gotta build a team first. GBS II is the LAST piece, not the first. Plus, if we brought this mythological guy in today, so what? Are we planning on winning the Cup this year? Or are we going to pay him to play with sub-par USL caliber schlubs who won't have the first clue? You build a team first. Talented youngsters is great. Then you plug the holes with a Padula kind of guy if your youngster didn't pan out, but only as you're headed for the team you want. I appreciate the Haslams willingness to spend money, but I'm not about to demand they spend it stupid so we can finish 6th instead of 10th. I'm fine with what they're doing. There'll be some hits and some misses and in a couple years we may have a team and until then at least it won't be an embarrassment that leaves me feeling like he five hour round trip from home wasn't a fool's errand.
I feel for you people that make those multi hour round trips. I also respect the hell out of you. Watching some of the matches this year just has me bolting for the gates to drive the 30m home in traffic and enacting a beautiful game moratorium. A day or two. Forget the nightmare. Come crawling back slowly throughout the week. To have the drive to stew on, and mull what you just witnessed. Cruel and unusual punishment. Building a solid business takes solid decisions, it is not a jailbreak process. We have seen much too much of the latter these past 4-5 years. None of the former. Take a look around. We are I believe the single most active club both on and off the pitch during this window thus far. Owners seem willing to take bigger bets in the hopes of bigger returns. A mil a pop for a winger? We'll take two (if current news pans out). I like the look of these casino tokens.
I did not say anything about a 10. Just a proven guy. If it is an attacker, than means production (double digit goals). No one is talking Guille. I'd be fine with Ola level who plays wide. Or a CM who can score, assist, or help make the other team cease & desist. We have a bunch of guys that do neither. Those guys are out there. If not in droves. If the first guy doesn't work out, fond a trade/transfer, etc. All we have had all year is a bunch of nickel & dime moves (Guzman, Meram trades, Accam was aggressive but we traded him already). No problem with Room (we needed a keeper). Or Diaz. Or this guy if we had another INT spot open. But if this is the last move, that is a punt on the season with 14 games left. In my view, anyway. And very disappointing.
We’ve got a proven guy. Zardes. Like Bill said, we need to build the team around the true 10. If these guys can feed some balls to Zardes and actually win a few, then I’m fine. I’d still like a few more of these “role” type of guys before the end of this transfer window though.
Look, I bought the, take our time, let Porter evaluate, line of thinking. Made sense to me. But it has been 6 months. Our biggest acquisitions (Meram, Accam) both have already been traded (though one is still here). Those moves didn't cripple us. Neither did whiffing on Robinho. Sure, with our Academy/youth system producing little, and no USL affiliate, our pipeline is dry. So I do not mind some younger guys. But to win, you have to do both. Hit singles and home runs. One of the benefits of Haslam ownership (and Bez) was the apparent willingness to spend big. To really compete. So far, on the pitch, I am not seeing it. Nor have I been impressed with coachbot. Yes, injuries are a major factor. Callups are a factor. But we have 5 points in the last 15 games. 1-2-12 (WDL). Putrid. I am not whistling zippety do dah after 5 points in 15 games. I don't think anyone should get fired or anything, but if I am giving out FO/coaching marks, they are not going to be good ones. How could they be? Look at our record. Or point to a move, 5 months in, that has helped the team?
My nickname is JDUB, my Name is Jesse but no offense taken . TRU is for the real untouchable used because JDUB is always taken . Anyways when Atlanta United invested 8 million everyone thought it was a great signing and it was and they sold him for 27 mil . Was he proven scorer at Lanús ? No , but he was a high level signing . We are not likely going to find a Cam for 1mil that’s as good as him. Now i think a more safe move would be what Bez invested at TFC for a proven player. Either way no more cheap shit it takes money to make money
Porter’s bread and butter are the guys with talent (but not the cream of the top crop) who just need that extra bit of coaching to contribute to a great team. Scoff all you want, but I would bet it is professionally killing Porter that he just cannot seem to scaffold up our current roster. Archer had a great post a week or two ago about what pattern we are seeing in our acquisitions. It matches Porter’s known strength. I would link/quote to it, but I only have so much time while one kid naps and the other kid rides a ride.
His game from the video...I thought the same..I just think MLS level defending could shut him down to easily much like Meram in the last couple of years.
