yesterday we posted this. pic.twitter.com/YflY7EIcwc— 3rd Degree (@3rdDegreeNet) February 8, 2019 obviously, we're having fun here (no?), but I would like to point out the base of this design actually may have some merit. Some background: For sometime we've been hearing in different conversations and second hand rumors, the new shirt was going to have some sort of downtown Dallas design - Reunion Tower, Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, "The big green building", etc. That got us assuming adidas was about to roll out a "skyline" design, but also using this new "glitch" pattern we see in the new SKC and NYRB shirts. Mike Miller threw this together as a shot of what that could look like. @peet2 I just threw this together, so she ain't pretty. Something more of a collage, rather than just the skyline across the front might be ok. pic.twitter.com/iwoxEUsl1P— Vitamin G (@txmmiller) February 7, 2019 That is a garish, awful, cliche design gimmick - but based on recent FCD shirt history totally reasonable guess and wouldn't surprise if something close to that resulted. But, then. The shirt is being unveiled at Reunion Tower for a "perfect attendance" party, it is called the "Reunion" jersey and the invite references, "Inspired by the architecture and design throughout downtown Dallas, the name itself will make more sense as more is revealed". So Mike Miller (@txmmiller) threw out this and I think he's onto something here. If it was done just right, I wouldn't hate it. pic.twitter.com/WptVU7pTJl— Vitamin G (@txmmiller) February 7, 2019 Now, this is something I would like. Done right, using the LED light cage of the iconic tower as a design pattern would be really interesting. You get, what I think can be, a cool design pattern but also one that pays homage to something everyone in North Texas knows. If each of the light dots actually are done in some sort of reflective, iridescent ink so they subtly show a shifting color in the light? Damn, that would be the best.
Yeah, I like the lights design (minus the actual LED lights y'all are joking about). The skyline design (although I know it's just a rough draft) is awful and reminds me of a stupid, gimmicky NBA jersey. I'm a purist though, so what do I know?
I'm a fan of the lights design also, the video graphic modifying the colors is a pretty awesome, though we there's no way they alter during the season as we don't sell enough jerseys and fans of other teams would have clue why it's being done. A shame though, really cool idea.
Here it is. The real one. The new @FCDallas "Reunion" Kit has been revealed! Check it out here. 👀📱⚽: https://t.co/BqTVv2A1um pic.twitter.com/S1FuH4JDBE— SportsDayDFW (@SportsDayDFW) February 12, 2019
It's OK. If the league mandated all white away uniforms not sure how much leeway teams had. I would like the sleeves to be blue and blue shorts worn but again I don't know what the league dictated (or why). I do know that those who are colorblind had trouble with a few of the games but I'm not ready to give the league credit for changing because of that. Seems if that were the case they'd just say so as I don't know who could really be against it for that reason.
Holy crap that was an awful kit release. I'm not opposed to an all-white away jersey (or kit), but the marketing for this thing is... bad. The Dallas skyline is so bland we just made the shirt white. We're going to name the jersey after a tower, but the only design element reference we could come up with was the tiny patch on the sleeve. We'll tell them the white-on-white stripes are something to do with a bridge. The bridge doesn't have parallel lines anywhere on it, and in fact is designed specifically to eschew parallel lines? The bridge isn't a part of the Dallas skyline? No matter. My 9-year-old has better marketing campaigns for her Girl Scout cookies (she really does... they're not as slick, but they make way more sense). Has the front office just completely given up? Are the college interns running the place now? It's almost like they're trying to make the team as boring as possible on purpose. PS- I think it would be hilarious if we played a preseason game in the taco jersey.
Definitely not crazy about the design but I'm actually impressed with the level of effort put into marketing something so bland. I mean it's all relative when it comes to our FO but I'm glad they made a big deal about it.
When I was a kid I loved playing in all white uniforms and I still like all whites. I also like the shocking 3rd kit like all black or all yellow. Just not pink. Blah!
Never liked playing in all white unis. Not for any aesthetic reason, it was just tough to keep them clean during the season. I prefer the alternate unis to be of the team colors. I really hate the mint uniforms Arsenal and others have used recently. It's easy to bag on our new non-descript white uniforms, but at least they're not some stupid color that's not part of our color scheme. I sense the taco jerseys could go on sale at some point, even if the team never wears them.

There are a lot of distinctive elements. Might be hard to tone it down to one though.
Ha, good! I was about to suggest you get your head checked. Our downtown is a snooze-fest compared to other cities but it looks beautiful from afar.
Paxton was on 105.3 last night and said he's heard they will be selling t-shirts of the fake jersey's at some point.
We'll be in Texas this week visiting my in-laws. I was having trouble selling the Mrs. on attending an FCD game (and thereby delaying our return home by a day) until... TACO JERSEYS! The FC Dallas FO definitely sold five tickets, six people worth of concessions (only one of my spawn is still short enough not to need a ticket), and 3 taco jerseys (no kids' sizes?!?) via their social media platform this weekend.
The taco jersey is actually quite comfortable. This shirt may join the regular rotation, unlike my knock-off Hoops jersey that I bought in Guatemala.
