I've got the feeling that Utah are much more solid than Orlando in this beginning of season and the two away matches in a week for Orlando could take their toll on them. I predict an away win by Harvey's team.
According to what I read about tomorrow's weather in Chicago, it will be 100% rain around 7:00 pm turning to 100% snow by 8:00 pm. I'm sick of snow for this year.
UPDATE: It's all snow right now. Because it was 60 yesterday it's barely accumulating, but it will be about as cold & wet as it is possible to get. The field is heated too.
[ORL-UTA] Both identical. Utah tweets in ascending order, not by 4-3-3. Rodriguez, Press, LaBonta Boquete, Jónsdóttir, Scott Maemone, Sauerbrunn, Corsie, Bowen Barnhart I shall log injury deltas hereafter ... or lag trying (=) means same status as last match, (=>) is worsening, (<=) is improving. "OK" means not injured. Orlando: Q none / OUT(=) Pressley Utah: Q none / OUT (OK =>) Lytle Nolf (=) Miramontez Moros Matheson / SEI Ratcliffe
In my time following lineups on twitter for my EPL fantasy league I have seen some wierd lineups but this Utah lineup takes the cake.
[CHI-REI] Gorden for Wright (and Davidson => LB), Brian for Mautz. Let's play some S❄️CCERInside the 18, presented by @MagellanCorp MORE | https://t.co/Pqig5V7Ogm pic.twitter.com/6ixiEGpDFA— Chicago Red Stars (@chicagoredstars) April 27, 2019 Reign: Ld.Williams for Betos. That's probably near Smith's expected timetable, as she was already a few months into her ACL rehab. What was Spencer's severity? Tear, or only a bad sprain?
Late change for Orlando. UPDATE: Haley Kopmeyer will take the place of Ashlyn Harris tonight. #ORLvUTA https://t.co/uRVEQK9xB3— Orlando Pride (@ORLPride) April 27, 2019
05' 0-0 Marta cuts inside at arc top wide right, clangs and chases. Jónsdóttir comes inside-out, touches ball first, Marta is just-late inserting right foot and hooks Jónsdóttir's right foot, twisting it sideways. Jónsdóttir goes down with severe pain, brief stoppage. 06' 0-0 Boquete pulls Jónsdóttir up, she limps back into play.
12' 0-0 Press touches past Krieger's foot at box top 6-left, chases it to 3m 6-left, pokes it off Kopmeyer's chest to endline. Ball stays in play, Press dribbles away, Krieger bumps her off ball at 2m. Rodriguez shoots quickly from ~10m left post, blocked over bar. 15' 0-0 Morgan counters up box left lane, early pass up wide left for Ubogagu to chase to 12m. Ubogago one-touch ground cross through 8m right post is a bit too far in front of Hill's run. Roar from the crowd. 17' 0-0 LaBonta chips up right touch to Jónsdóttir at 10m, Jónsdóttir fends off pressure upon her back and crosses too close to goal, Kopmeyer catches face-high.
18' 0-0 LaBonta drives to box right foot, cross to 5m mid-right, Rodriguez is unmarked but one-touch left instep volley goes wide right. Didn't open that foot enough. 19' 0-1 LB Maemone dribbles to 27m box left, whips a cross to box top arc right. Press reaches back and does a waist-high left toes knockdown back across own body, spins ccw to box top right post, snipes left instep across mouth. Kopmeyer doesn't get a great jump at it, dives late and it bounces into back left low. What control from @ChristenPress! 0-1 | #ORLvsUTA | https://t.co/STsLwLcM5N pic.twitter.com/wwlQgYeNue— National Women’s Soccer League (@NWSL) April 27, 2019 22' 0-1 Press receives at box top wide left in Krieger's hole (with Krieger stranded high), spins down Kennedy and gets to endline mid-left. Backpass to 7m left post is just behind Rodriguez, she turns and flicks it rightward to Jónsdóttir at 10m right post. Jónsdóttir chases that, pulls right instep toward right post (or just wide), Kopmeyer dives and blocks it wide right and over.
Where do you see it's been postponed? I don't see any tweets from NWSL, Chicago, or the Reign mentioning it. The last tweet about the game I see is: Snow problem at all. #CHIvSEA pic.twitter.com/OAY1GSB49N— National Women’s Soccer League (@NWSL) April 27, 2019
John D. Halloran @JohnDHalloran 15m15 minutes ago Game postponed until a “later date.” Personally stinks having left my house four hours ago to cover this game, but it is 100% the right decision. Field is not safe.
Oh, finally got a tweet from Chicago: Tonight's game has been postponed due to weather. A make up date will be announced at a later time.#CHIvRFC #MKOT pic.twitter.com/D9yl7MMsus— Chicago Red Stars (@chicagoredstars) April 28, 2019 Only took them 10 minutes after the game was supposed to start to announce it. Before the game, I was gonna post something snarky about the game probably ending up being postponed last minute because the NWSL is too inept to read the weather report. But then I was like, surely they've read the weather report and are prepared to play in the snow. I shouldn't be that callous, I'll just post about the orange ball. Guess I was wrong. (Well, except they did have an orange ball though)
28' 0-1 Maemone comes inside to chase a high bounce, Ubogagu comes back for it but -- both feet slide out and she slides flat on back, misses ball, Maemone trips over (and lands upon) her. Foul on Ubogagu 30' 0-1 Morgan passes up centerline through box top center, Ubogagu chases but from too far behind, Barnhart is already up at 14m to scoop up. Orlando aren't getting much speedy wing threat for crosses, but mostly they've been chasing Utah's possession. 31' 0-1 Marta passes to Morgan at arc top mid-left. Morgan has hips past Corsie's body plane, sprawls down face-first. Corsie, turning to wave an offside arm-plea, entangles feet with Morgan from behind, trips over her. Offside on the pass. 34' 0-1 Pickett cross from wide left to 8m 1/3 left, Morgan hop-heads, blocked by a body rightward, Utah clears. Marta serves high from 25m box right, ball drops to 1m center, Morgan(?) just misses a running-leap header try, Barnhart catches chest-high. Better than Naeher's basket-catch, but she could have caught it even higher.
36' 0-1 Orlando left ck, tight to 0.5m 1/4 left, Barnhart punches it rightward. Hill jumps and heads it back to 0.5m center, Barnhart catches high. Somewhat better activity from Orlando. 39' 0-1 Bowen longball from deep right, over everybody to Kopmeyer. (turnover) 40' 0-1 Orlando lumps ball forward, Utah collect and pass to Rodriguez through circle top left. Kennedy tackles her at 30m arc left. Foul, yellow card on Kennedy. 41' 0-1 LaBonta fk toward 15m mid-right, Corsie offside.
42' 0-1 Krieger passes from midfield box right to Marta facing away at 25m. Marta one-touch back-flick leftward to Hill, promptly spins and makes her own cut toward box top mid-right. Hill quickly slips a diagonal return pass into Marta's stride. Marta chases to 8m 7-right, never quite has ball in wheelhouse, pulls a late shross toward 4m left post -- off Bowen's chest at 6-top center, deflected over endline right. 43' 0-1 Orlando left ck, inswings to 3m 1/6 left. Barnhart jumps behind 1 and catches above her head. Extend those arms A microcosm of Orlando's ills: even when they create 1-v-0 runs, they lack the ruthlessness (of NC ) to finish with authority. +1'. 45+1' (of +1') 0-1 LaBonta(?) diagonal pass across arc top behind Orlando's entire backline, to Rodriguez at box top mid-left. Rodriguez touches a bit heavily to 9m 3-left, shoots left foot rising to 1/4 left, Kopmeyer double-blocks it away. Rodriguez collects, backpass to arc top right post, Jónsdóttir clangs ball just too far into a pocket of 3 defenders, toe-poke shot deflects leftward to 10m left post. Press jumps for an off-balance header, can't turn it goalward -- offside anyways. A-Rod in on goal. @hkopmeyer stuffs the shot. 0-1 | #ORLvsUTA | https://t.co/STsLwLcM5N pic.twitter.com/lIZkiqRyEY— National Women’s Soccer League (@NWSL) April 28, 2019 HT 0-1.
Tomorrow at 10:00 PDT Tonight's match against @chiredstarsPR has been rescheduled for 10a PT tomorrow - Sunday, April 28.— Seattle Reign FC (@reignfc) April 28, 2019
I had just about given up on Press last year -- but she has risen from the near dead (hey, it's Easter) to look like a winner. I like Lauletta as an analyst. Brief, pertinent comments and a lot of knowledge about the players -- fewer cliches than most analysts. I was looking forward to the Reign/Chicago game to see how Balcer does in her second start.
For goodness sakes, can Orlando Pride please score at least one goal for me? How do they have all that firepower and nothing?????
