I'd agree. Of the 26 players currently on the roster, only Gil, Penilla, and Castillo are guaranteed starters on half the other teams in the league. Diego and the Caicedos are at least prominently in a weekly 18, if not rotational starters, as well. Beyond that.... I like Turner, but I realize that isnt a consensus opinion, and Rennicks seems like he should fit with the new exciting wave of young MLS players. Everyone else: Bunbury, Agudelo, Wright, Buchanon, Jones, Caldwell, Zahibo, Herivaux, Firmino, Somi, Anibaba, Delamea, Mancienne, Bye, Farrell, Knighton, and Cropper are all back ups at best.

Watched the extended highlights of last night's TOR 4:0 NYC game. A few thoughts. TOR had 2 early goals called back for offsides (one by VAR). The Revs would have folded after such misfortune. Sean Johnson made 5 saves, 4 from inside the box, or else the blowout would have been even worse. Pozuelo played his first game for TOR, and he is the real deal. Assisted on the first goal, scored the second (PK) and the third.
San Jose lost 5-0 at home. They are now 0-4, 2 GF, 14 GA. Colorado lost 4-1 at home, giving up 2 own goals. At least the Revs aren't that bad. So we got that going for us, which is nice...
I fear the Kraft Management by Objective goal for Billello, Burns and Friedel might be, « don’t be as bad as at least one other team in the league. »
Tommy Thompson's promise, before the Quakes thrashed the Timbers 3-0: https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...s-make-good-tommy-thompsons-pregame-guarantee I know it's not the Patriot's Way, er, I mean, Revolution way, but can you imagine one of the Revs saying something like this???
Tonight's game is cancelled. Colorado Rapids vs Seattle Sounders postponed to September 7 due to weather April 10, 2019, 11:18AM EDT MLSsoccer staff It was in the 70's in Denver yesterday.
While Burns and Friedel continue to "hope" ... LA adds another. The @LAGalaxy have finally completed the deal to acquire Costa Rican defender Giancarlo Gonzalez from Italian club Bologna. Gonzalez will be with the team this week.— Kevin Baxter 🇺🇦🏳️🌈 (@kbaxter11) April 10, 2019
I think Julian Green is who TFC wants with that allocation spot and I think it makes a lot of sense for both parties.— Duane Rollins (@24thminute) April 11, 2019
While the Revs complain about how hard it is to sign players from outside MLS, other teams just do it: Montreal Impact sign CCL star Omar Browne from CAI Independiente April 16, 2019, 9:13AM EDT Tom Bogert
Apples and oranges - you're taking a statement about signing European players in mid-season out of context.
Friedel’s the only one fixated on European players still playing. There are other leagues to sign from....
I don't follow every league around the world enough to know who any of these players are, but the difference is that these other teams are signing guys now and bringing them in to the team early in the season. If a guy is going to make an impact, there is still a lot of season left, even if it takes a few weeks to get completely on board with the rest of the team. Who knows how good these guys will be, but the fact that these other teams are taking action now to improve their teams is a sharp contrast to the Revs. We have been promised a DP (which is very un-Revs-like to talk about it in advance), but who knows when it will become official, when his transfer certificate will arrive, when he'll suit up and actually play. Or if he'll get banished to the bench after a couple of sub-par games, like that guy whose name I forgot, who they chased all winter and finally brought him in last summer and cut at the end of the season. Yeah, him. I'll put the over/under at the last 8 games.
Summer transfers are usually not beneficial. There are too many excuses when they don't pan out - no time to develop chemistry, they didn't gel, they brought him in for next season. A team that has their poop together fills out their roster, gets players in before preseason and tweaks the roster in the summer. The wait an see approach the Revs have its not conducive to building a franchise. Its more like making a patchwork quilt
I just watched DAL vs SJ on Twitter. Interesting to see the visiting team (SJ) going all out at the end, putting DAL on their heals. In the last 10 minutes, Almeyda brought on Wondo for a midfielder, then Vako for a central defender. They had some chances, but game ended 0:0.
A source close to the Rapids has informed me that Anthony Hudson has been fired. Conor Casey will take over. #Rapids96— Soccer Rabbi (@soccer_rabbi) May 1, 2019
Confirmation that we will never hear Friedel call out the Krafts for not spending enough on the roster....
