Yeah, that's the problem. Anyone with the skills, credentials, experience, ambition, work ethic, etc. of a guy like Bez would never take a job like that with the Revs because he wouldn't be able to run the show. Or at least run it the way someone like that would want to run it.

interesting move by Philly. I guess they don't put much stock in the draft.
    TRADE ALERT #FCCincy acquires 13th, 29th, 37th, 61st and 85th selections in 2019 @MLS SuperDraft

But it looks like Cincy does... I think they also acquired LAFC's 1st pick. I was somehow thinking they would be more Atlanta than Minnesota, but if they are seriously thinking they can build a competitive team through the draft.... Or maybe they are bringing in these guys as longer term projects and will stash them at a nearby USL club like Lou-a-ville and some of them may be ready in a year or two.

Too bad we never thought of that. Maybe a team in Hartford or someplace like that would work. Does Burns know about this? Should we tell him?

As was reported by @KristianRDyer, I can confirm that Wake Forest and U.S. U-20 forward Omir Fernandez finalized his homegrown deal with the New York Red Bulls. Quality signing for #RBNY. I think he'll get minutes this season.

The deal for Andrew Gutman to sign with Celtic is done, per a source with knowledge. #cf97

I'm told the Seattle Sounders have signed Indiana University goalkeeper Trey Muse to a homegrown player deal. Muse was considered the best college goalkeeper in the nation. #Sounders

Either that, or thinking the draft is a complete waste of time and you'd be better off getting your players elsewhere.

The Galaxy only have 17 players signed, and 4 of them are DPs. Maybe the Revs should trade all their draft picks for one of those DPs... :p

Coaching Columbus Crew "a realization of a dream"
    MLSSoccer.com

Interesting article on Porter "realizing a dream" to take over the crew. In particular, there were some quotes that as a revs fan, made me wonder if the revs approached Porter after Heaps was let go and got a hard no. For example, (bolding mine):
    On the fans/relevance:
    Hmm

And this one's perhaps a stretch but could be a commentary on Friedel's dramatic tactical change on taking over with the revs and getting rid of Nguyen and now Rowe:
Of course it could be a commentary on a dozen other MLS clubs to be fair.

I may not be recalling all this correctly, but didn't porter kind of make similar comments about Orlando when that job was open, or was it someone else? Basically, a good coach is not going to want to take a job in a place where he can't be set up to succeed. Now not every organization has puled of money to spend, but having a smart, competent front office, and an owner who is committed will go a long way to instilling confidence. Without that, the only people who are willing to take the job are inexperienced coaches who are trying to get their foot in the door and see it as an opportunity to use it as a stepping stone to a better gig.

Shouldn't this be in the "Everyone does everything better than the Revs" thread? ;)

If there was such a thread, we could pretty much get rid of every other thread on this board.

One of 2 guys under 24 who I thought looked really good for Herediano in the CONCACAF league. The other was Jimmy Marin. Would have liked to see the Revs chase either one.
