And since there's no "MLS Teams to be announced" thread (and won't be) ...

Atlanta United won't get to play their very first ever CONCACAF Champions League home match at the Benz. Some folks in the comments section are bringing out the pitchforks which is absolutely amazing to me considering that everything that club has done has been first class since day one; AU did everything they could to find a better venue but this is the best they could do.

At least they didn't move the match to Bermuda :whistling:

Since it wasn't noted earlier, some bad news to pass along as Sigi Schmid passed away at 65 years old.

    Sad news.

I know Dan Loney is a "love him or hate him" kind of writer, but regardless of how you feel, this Sigi retrospective is worth a read:

I have to give some props to Don Garber on this one. He recognized that he had effed up, and found, or at least embraced, a reasonably elegant way to salvage the situation.

And he plants the seeds for an otherwise completely implausible Columbus-Austin rivalry.

Bobby Dodd wasn't available? That holds what, 40,000+ instead of the 10k they can fit in the place they are holding it?

But this is a case of slack given where it is deserved. Atlanta seems to have done almost everything right, so even if this is a bad decision that backfires, it is far better with their track record. Unlike some other team whose occasional success and good fortune is the epitome of a blind squirrel finding an acorn.

I was hoping (fool that I am!) that Revs could somehow find their way to extracting Bezbatchenko from TFC a while back.
