I thought MLS should have done this from the start. It also gives the home a chance to show off and sell it's secondary jersey to it's fans.
Correct.. An increase in a revenue stream. One would think that Adidas would be on board with this type of tradition, for the very reason you mention. As well there would be images from the fans perspective that when certain cities meet up, like when DCU meets LAFC both having all black, the home side gets to do a unique uniform for that night. I.e go with their secondary or if not rarer third jersey. MLS HQ could cultivate league wide over the years when certain color combinations on display happen on the rare occasions. Making when specific MLS cities encounter each other it is special for the fans in the stands and for those of us watching on screens.
That was the rule back in my travel soccer days... though if only because the home team was more likely to be able to scramble for replacement jerseys if needed compared to the team that drove an hour to play there.
Local Hospital/Urgent Care network CHI Franciscan has been announced as the Sounders training shirt sponsor. NEWS | Sounders FC announces @CHIFranciscan as our official training jersey partner through 2020.“Sounders FC and CHI Franciscan both share Washington roots and community-minded principles and have worked well together over the past few years.”📝 https://t.co/HkRvFGmWUt pic.twitter.com/X6mZ8Km9bg— Seattle Sounders FC (@SoundersFC) March 27, 2019 Too bad no one told CHI Franciscan about this as they are busy pimping the Mariners on their twitter feed.
Really a nice test of which sponsors have the most aesthetically pleasing logos. (the Fire shirt this year just looks so much better with the smaller Motorola logo compared to the old Valspar one, btw). I don't totally get the whole Parley thing though. Hasn't Nike been doing the "make jerseys from recycled bottles" thing since like 2014?
Yea nike has, but Parley yarn is specifically plastic bottles, and other plastics, taken directly out of the ocean and made into these yarns and then into these jerseys. Which i think is just pretty cool itself. Also, all of adidas soccer jerseys are already 100% recycled polyester already anyway. I think i heard the whole company will go recycled everything by 2024 or 25.
These shirts are for the matches of the weekend of April 20, correct? Cbus plays DCU Wed the 24th, but both of us show teal shirts.
I would think that Columbus would wear it for the game on April 20 against Portland. The entire league plays games April 19-21. The shirts match up for those games. Friday, April 19 CIN (black) v. RSL (teal) TFC (black) v. MIN (teal) LAG (teal) v. HOU (black) Saturday, April 20 CHI (black) v. COR (teal) PHI (teal) v. MTL (black) ORL (black) v. VAN (teal) ATL (teal) v. FCD (black) CLB (teal) v. POR (black) NER (teal) v. NYR (black) SJE (teal) v. SKC (black) Sunday, April 21 DCU (teal) v. NYC (black) LAX (black) v. SEA (teal)
You’d think CLB, ATL, DCU, and SJE would wear black, since it fits their color schemes. And CLB wore white last year, IIRC.
Not MLS related, but CanPL revealed their jerseys today. Their jersey manufacturer is Macron and only have two white jerseys.. Introducing the 2019 Canadian Premier League kits, produced by Macron.👕: https://t.co/IGJs2LtHCZ | #CanPL pic.twitter.com/GFgmgdLVqS— Canadian Premier League (@CPLsoccer) April 4, 2019
I'm pleasantly surprised. Macron kits are usually ugly as hell. That Tim Hortons sponsorship is the most Canadian thing ever. They just need a Canadian Tire or a Mac's convenience stores next.
I LOVE that they're going with true alternate jerseys instead of monochrome kits (usually white or black) like in MLS. A lot better looking that what Adidas usually lazily comes up with. Here's a bit more in depth information on the all the kits... https://canpl.ca/article/gallery-a-full-look-at-all-14-inaugural-cpl-kits
I foresee some color issues tho. There’s several instances where a team’s alternate and primary are rather close in darkness or hue.
I really like the team with the green over white, and the red with white sash. MLS needs more sashes/stripes/hoops that are visible from the stands and less pointless microscopic details.
The Parley shirts are out. https://www.mlsstore.com/ The Houston picture makes them look more blue than black:
Anyone have one of these from last year? The badge is apparently embroidered instead of pressed on? Do they fit like the authentics or the replicas?
