Has anyone heard anything at all about any potential new players? God, our offseasons are so boring...even more than the seasons.
BR&U pretend to be a news site but they are the independent version of Goff. They are publicist for DC United not reporters, who do what they have to in order to keep their access flowing.
Our team celebrates all the effort it takes just to keep some of our players like Hamid and Brilliant. I'm sure our adds will be people that just fall into our lap. Mostly MLS retreads.
As the 2019 season is over I am going to untether this thread and replace it. Sayonara 2019. May you burn forever in the fires of Mordor.
Same old 2020 was always going to be the case when they offered us a 2 year price lock. Realistically I don’t expect them to be active in player acquisition until summer 2021 at which time they’ll have given themselves 2 years to find another Rooney-esque player on the cheap and raise ticket prices or hopefully sold the team to someone and given them plenty of room to raise prices.
Ted Leonsis isn't a good owner? He was interested at one point, and has said he regrets not buying the team.
Seeing how long it took to get the stadium built, I think it's time to start looking for a site for a new one.
Goff reporting that Dynamo Dresden in the Bundisliga 2 until they get relegated is interested in Canouse and everyone's speculation is that he's worth about a million bucks. I can't say I'd see his sale as an omen for a team trying to compete, so I am concerned they'll take their $600k after kicking up a cut to MLS and run.
Right now DCU has a logjam at DM. They have Felipe, Moreno and Canouse under contract. Durkin is under contract while on loan. If you are DK and are getting signals that Durkin's loan option to buy will not be picked up, you have 4 guys for 2 spots -- actually 5 because Segura can fill in as a stopgap. Since DCU is committed to Felipe and Moreno for next season. If Durkin is returning, who would you keep? Durkin or Canouse? If someone will pay a transfer fee for Canouse, I think the decision is easy in that situation.
Agreed. Durkin wants to stay in Belgium, so when his loan is up, we allow them to talk us down to $1M.
Canouse can also be an outside back. And probably better there than at a Midfield position where he would be expected to distribute the ball and make penetrating passes.
If Oniel Fisher can refind his 2nd half of 2018 form after the ACL layoff, one would think he'd be the first choice right back again. In which case, Canouse would be a man without a full time starting job.
Personally, I'm not too worried about that. There's no way Moreno, Canouse and Felipe all avoid injury, poor form, NT callups and fixture congestion for an entire year. This is the kind of depth (plus a backup if we don't expect Durkin to return) that we should be striving for.
Just to show it is not just me now even my Dad and brother, who were the only reason I bought a 4 game pack last season, are saying the cost of going to a game, with the travel issues is becoming to much for them to be willing to go. I may end up going to only one match next season. This FO is driving away the loyal fans.
