He is the heart and soul of this team but I would not call him the best player. That would be Buletsa, Sikan, or Tsitaishvili. Maybe even Lunin. Popov being unavailable for the final is, however, a big loss and it gives a significant advantage to Korean team. He is our best defender and without him we have a huge hole in the center of defense.
Ukraine has one of the larger teams at this tournament and one of the oldest. We are a bit on a slower side and not supremely skilled. But we are a physical team with well-organized defense. Think of Italy, minus the skill but plus the physicality.
Thinking about it, Korea is the pride of Asia and none in Asia has done as well in the world scene and so much noise in the Western media: semi-finalist in 2002, you beat Germany world champion at the 2018 world cup, finalist at the u20 world cup, you had cha bum the greatest Asian player of all time in Asia of the 20th century and now you have his Heung min which reached the final of the champion'sague and the best Asian player currently. bravo the Korean game.
Well, it wasn't a direct red. it was a second yellow. And, as such, it was a 50/50 thing. A very similar incident earlier in the game did not cause an Italian player to get a yellow.
We have several skilled players, but most of our success at the tournament comes from very well organized defense. I do not know what absence of Popov will do to our defensive organization.

Other than lee kang in hoping to see some of these guys find better homes and kim hyun woo to dinamo zagreb first team. Realistically for most of these guys this will be there greatest achievement and we will never hear from them again but one can hope.
Since none of the usual heavy weights made it to the final, this tournament no longer exists to the western media?
a fact not to be forgotten Ukraine is close to Poland so they will have more fan given the short distance to travel and therefore the impression of playing at home
clear offside. the videos FIFA showed during the game didn't show the play before the goal.. like the pic below. simple, easy decision.. the guy who is circled, chests the ball from over the top pass & he was clearly offside way before the pass
