Yes, I recycled the conclusion from my BS post the other day and the accompanying cartoon from my increasingly-poignant entry about how the Galaxy couldn't rest on their laurels wrt LAFC entering the league.

    Enjoy...

We got back into the playoffs and made it to the second round. That’s not too bad.

    But, damn...

Very accurate assessments of the players imo. And by "accurate" I of course mean they match my own opinions. I don't know whether that is a good sign or if it should worry you. ;-)

I know others will rate Bingham and Rolf higher and probably Ibra lower, but I'm with you on those. If I wanted to nitpick I would rate Romney slightly higher (a C or C- because other than a couple of gaffes I thought he shut his side down for the most part) and Kitchen slightly lower (a C-, only because of his low work rate). But those are very minor differences. Overall I think you nailed it.

Thanks. I think we've been on the same page most of this season.

There was some progress this season
    -We made the playoffs
-te Kloese is a real upgrade and put his stamp on things early
-GBS seems to be an upgrade as a coach...but definitely room for improvement.
-We had 1 DP that dominated the league
    -Pavon is a good get

    The bad
-Our biggest problem coming into the season was defense and that is still a HUGE problem.
-Ibra probably hit the end of his time and will leave a big hole to fill
-We probably cant blow up the team (and defense)
    -Allessandrini injuries

The thing that bothered me the most about this Galaxy team is that they don't play with the cohesiveness of the early teens dynasty. The Arena coached teams, when successful, defended from every position. We had players who were comitted to winning. Yeah, Keane or Becks could be selfish at times, but you saw them go all out in key moments. Zlatan never did that, and GBS knew that he couldn't ask it of him. We are unlikely to be an elite team until we get that kind of buy-in from the the entire team, and I think that's more on the coach than the players. :(

It’s been a long time since we’ve had three DPs contributing together through an entire season. The Gio experiment and the Alessandrini injuries have meant that a significant portion of our salary budget has not been helping on the field. So, fingers crossed that we can fix that next year.
