Overall Record (W-L-T): Home 12-1-2.....this stat is very solid considering how insular MLS was/is. Away 1-8-7.....8 points from various trips to places where visiting team from their own nation don't want to travel to! Again, reputable. Overall 13-9-9.....I'd take a Pepsi Challenge with any other MLS club that is from 2010 or older. I mean, what is Dallas' or the Revs overall record look like compared to ours.
13-9-9...a little underwhelming when we were regularly booking our flights to the MLS Cup final. And a lot of those Ls and Ts are against a lot of minnows. Over perform-ish vs decent teams and under perform against fish. And to boot some of those Ls were against pee wee teams in what was essentially elimination matches.
You’re underestimating 2 things: - how even a mid table Liga MX team is still better than most MLS playoff teams especially back in the 00s. - how difficult it is to win in Central America. that the Dynamo managed points to earn points in half of their away games is a very good record. Also, a reminder that most Liga MX and MLS teams played half to all their bench in the group stages compared to Central American and Caribbean teams that played their starters.
Why would we fear Saprissa? Oh, I know, we don't play defense and we are not very good, I get that. But past that -- why would we fear Saprissa? I don't think they are what they used to be.
Anyone thinking about traveling to Guatemala? United has 427 RT up right now, dep Tues ret Thursday, flying into Guatemala City which is about an hour or so from Guastetoya.

Mlssoccer.com had the fixture dates, i.e. window of dates not set in stone dates, up on their home page. Looks like iirc we play around Feb. 19th with 26th in the return leg at our house.

Game will be hosted at the national stadium in Guatemala City. Got a about a dozen EB members signed up to fly out.
Thank you very much for this info. I think me and my bud will be going. Especially now that I know it is in Guatemala City. To confirm: Estadio Mateo Flores?
So, I spent some time looking around C'CAF website, and then googling around the internet, trying to find some reference to that fact for my buddy (I trust you -- but my buddy somehow does not trust "A guy I know on the internet -- smh). So ... any chance you could post a link? I did find the first prediction of a result: Guastatoya over Houston 2:1. From the student newspaper of SUNY (State University New York) - Cortland.
The Dynamo think the game is at the national stadium in Guatemala City. https://www.houstondynamo.com/post/...oya-feb-26-concacaf-champions-league-round-16 The name was changed from Estadio Mateo Flores in 2016. Doroteo Guamuch Flores is the birth name of Mateo Flores.
Recall the era of our club having to play CCL matches at College Station. Like when we beat Putarenas up there to advance to play that crazy tie with Pachuca? Well Atlanta is having the same issues with sorting out their home ground and playing dates. Thus they are going to a college ground coming up in CCL play. https://www.prosoccerusa.com/mls/at...mpions-league-match-at-mercedes-benz-stadium/
Hah! He sits fairly close to you guys in the stadium -- so that won't work. But its good enough for me. He is saying he can't go anyway because of work and family obligations. Have you guys worked tickets yet? I don't expect them to be a problem.
We expect it to be a non-issue since they're a team with a 3k stadium playing in the national stadium against an MLS team without superstars/household names on the roster. PM me, happy to share whatever info I can and you're welcome to link up with us out there if you're so inclined.
