Who would you have gone with? I'm not a fan of Brooks/Gonzo together and there are a few choices I would've made differently (calling in Spector and/or Evans, for one) but this roster has gotten hammered by injuries, especially up top.
Omg if I click notifications the screen refreshes holy shit So Dempsey will drop into midfield and Lletget is an 8. Pulisic will drift wider when Dempsey drops. So it's a 4-2-3-1 in a way.
If we lose, it is going to be because Omar Gonzalez lets a guy run right past him for a goal. He is horrible. It's not a coincidence that we are 1-4 in the last 5 meaningful games he has started.
Omar will dominate in the air but I fear what you say will come true. I would prefer we have a true 6 instead of Bradley in the role.
Retweet from Steven Goff: Jeff CarlisleVerified account @JeffreyCarlisle #usmnt scratches are Jordan Morris, Jermaine Jones (suspended), & David Bingham.
The Gonzo - Brooks combo is the glaring issue. I also don't think Pulisic needs to be central just yet. I'm not a fan of Nagbe. Decent ball control but he's lacked finesse/finishing in the final 1/3. Also, I'd rather see Gcam at DMid than Bradley. Lleget is too slow to play out wide. With the exception of Dempsey, Howard and JF, I hate this lineup. Having said all that, I hope I'm dead wrong.
I don't think he's horrible as much as inconsistent. He swings between dominant and "dude WTF?" A very puzzling guy.
Need to call in another forward for the trip to Panama if Morris won't be able to go there either. Arriola or Agudelo would seem like the obvious choices
Hope we don't need a goal at 60'+ because we really lack attacking options off the bench. Wondo, Kljestan, Zusi, and Bedoya are all we've got.
I think there will be a lot of interchange between Pulisic/Nagbe/Lletget. All 3 guys can play any of those 3 spots I like Cam at DM but he was never going to play there in this one. It was always gonna be either CB to pair with Brooks or RB because he's the only international-caliber RB in the squad, I would've personally gone with the former. Like I said, I think this squad really could've benefited from Spector's or Evans' inclusion to hold down that RB spot (I also would've brought in Chandler even if just for one game after Yedlin went down).
Neither ESPN nor mlssoccer.com, as of right now, have Orozco listed as on the bench. Is Zusi the backup RB?
re: the lineup pros: i like cameron at right back. i like that beasley isnt starting. i like 2 forwards. cons: gonzalez starting. not really a fan of bradley starting either. dont think dempsey can go more than 60 minutes so dont like him as a starter cuz thats at least 1 sub spoken for right there.
