So Wynalda is positioning himself as a "patriot" (in his own words) over this footballing issue? For goodness' sake, thank all that is holy that he lost.

The responses to this tweet are priceless!!!

As are Tinfoil Ted's statements that MLS will collapse if the US doesn't win the hosting rights to the 2026 World Cup :x3::ROFLMAO::laugh::ROFLMAO:

I personally think the most incredible thing to come out of all this is that somehow Alexi Lalas has positioned himself in American soccer media as the voice of reason.

He's always been a contrarian. Unfortunately the side of reason is currently an opinion contrary to popular sentiment.

Tantrum culture always needs something to hate. I fully expect one of the Euro-based darlings of the moment will be a Bradley-level enemy in the not too distant future.

Hey.. Him and all of his twitter friends (that he self-selected due to like-mindedness) are all talking about boycotting US Soccer, therefore it is most!! :)

No one wants to admit they are in the minority.

After pointing out that if I asked people at the first C38 tailgate who the USSF President was most of them wouldn't be able to name him he of course dismissed it because "MLS fans", then asked me to take a poll asking if Sunil's VP was the right choice. Of course the leading answer to that poll would be "Sunil who?".

Supporting Mexico.....Will they also be "Supporting" Mexico by watching their friendlies in the run up to Russia 2018 as well?

This would be most ironic if they do, as they would be supporting SUM, the VERY ENTITY that they pointed a large amount of their vitriol towards.....

Eh. Lalas has said that he is an "actor" when it comes to the "media" stuff he does on Fox / did on ESPN because it is entertainment and you need more than one view put out there.

I think the rhetoric of the election has brought out the real Lalas. I expect his buffoonery to commence in a few months when the WC arrives.

What tiny amount of respect I had for Wynalda just went out the window. Sheesh. What a maroon.

I always have wondered about that Bug's Bunny "maroon" expression. I thought it was just a silly way of saying moron, making fun of both the protagonist and the antagonist.

    Apparently...
I don't expect anyone to change their manner of speaking over this.

While maroon does have that meaning I still think Bugs Bunny is mispronouncing moron. He also mispronounces ignoramus in the very next sentence.

Bugs has also been known to follow up "maroon" with "nin-cow-poop" and "gulli-bull"... :)

Thanks! I had no idea that it had that past. I also assumed it was an intentional mis-speaking of moron. Wow.

It is possible that the writers were unaware of there being an actual different meaning of maroon and were only intending the joke, consistent with the other mis-pronunciations.

It’s also possible that the writers were aware of the context, they just didn’t care because they were racist as f**k. There are a fair number of Looney Toons episodes that aren’t shown anymore because of racist portrayals.. This is particularly true of the older episodes..
