2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Home team first, times are ET Final Wednesday, September 26 Houston Dynamo (MLS) v. Philadelphia Union (MLS) 8:00 pm ESPN2 The USSF has officially set the time for the game at 7 pm CDT, local time here in Houston.
I'll be sure to let y'all know. I don't imagine attendance will be even half as good as our regular season.
I would have said that as well but there aren't very many seats left on the east side of the stadium. Interesting.
So one sports trophy in a city with 5 top-flight teams is considered "a lot?" Don't mind me, it's just that my city has won 10 championships and were runners up another 9 times this century. But still, it would be nice to see Philly win, and if they do, I hope they do some kind of banner thing that also honors the teams from their area that also won the USOC many years ago. The Revs could have done that, but they think the sport was invented in 1994.
BTW, thunderstorms are expected in Houston on Wednesday afternoon and evening. The highest chances are right at 5 pm local time a couple of hours before the 7 pm game time. That will also affect turnout no matter how many tickets have been distributed. I just had a co-worker who is planning to go to the game as a first time fan ask about the weather. She was excited to go "because it can't be a tie. Someone has to win." She wanted to know how early they will announce whether the game will be held or not because of the weather. I pointed out that we had a game delayed by lightning for a couple of hours earlier this year and we didn't know it was happening until after the national anthem. She said she will make a decision at 5 pm on whether or not to stay downtown for the game. She is not the only one.
That would make the final attendance by far the lowest since the Sounders invented making Cup Finals important.
And people wonder where the term Massholes comes from... (Some of us are old enough to remember the Pat Patriot era)
Well, there are probably 20 cities in North America that have won as many championships as Philadelphia has in the past 10 years (2). And sure, every team goes through ups and downs (some never get to the "up" part). The Pats had a remarkable run, but they are going to crash hard, if not this year, certainly by next. As for "Massholes," well, "All's I gutta say is your *********. Nobody ever even heard-a your state anyways. Who cayeh's about some square state that looks like a caaahd-board bawx?"
