If we really wanted someone on the allocation list, we could always trade our way up to the top. I actually think Rubin could be a decent acquisition for the right price. Dude is still young and was great for the USMNT teams he was on. Just hasn't succeeded at any club yet. He's a striker but I'm pretty sure hes been used as a CAM plenty too.
Several good attacking players on that list Julian Green would be a good replacement for Meram. Also like Johansson at St and wouldn’t mind taking Gonzalez back. I assume we lost his rights when we sold him off to the Italians
I was just coming to ask if anyone knew who Eduardo Sosa was and why he was doing name pronunciations.... https://soundcloud.com/columbuscrew...s/2015-columbus-crew-sc-player-pronunciations But I see that Erickson just tweeted that we signed the dude, soooooo..... nevermind.

"A player that’s used to winning." Hear what Gregg had to say about #CrewSC's newest acquisition, Eduardo Sosa. 🔉 pic.twitter.com/3H77TjSDyN— The Crew (@ColumbusCrew) January 9, 2018 https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/eduardo-sosa/profil/spieler/377377 Naturally a CAM who can play on L/R wing.
8 goals and 6 assists in 59 games. Don’t get too excited folks. I can see us offloading Meram and Ola for TAM and stashing it away for 2019. 2018 will be a lame duck season.
Berhalter said Sosa caught #CrewSC’s eye because of how he’s been performing at such a young age. Called him "a very good attacking midfielder."— Patrick Murphy (@_Pat_Murphy) January 9, 2018 Berhalter said he believes Sosa can play all three attacking midfield positions, but the #CrewSC staff will see where he fits best.— Patrick Murphy (@_Pat_Murphy) January 9, 2018 Berhalter said he believe #CrewSC still has two international slots open.— Patrick Murphy (@_Pat_Murphy) January 9, 2018 It sounds like #CrewSC want Sosa to be the heir apparent to Higuain but will see where he fits best.— Patrick Murphy (@_Pat_Murphy) January 9, 2018 950836913090547712 is not a valid tweet id I wonder where 3G thinks they still have two open international slots?...

http://lastwordonsoccer.com/2018/01/09/columbus-crew-sc-acquires-venezuelan-midfielder-eduardo-sosa/ That article specifies he was signed as a Discovery Signing.
Green cards, I'd guess.... You'd have to think Abubakar might be close, as he played college ball here. Higs possibly.
It seems like most of his production has been this past season. So the stats spread across all his seasons with the club is probably not a good representation of his current and future skill/talent. I like the signing. I wasn't expecting us to bother to get Higuains successor until he was gone (and we were in Austin) but I approve of it.
I hope he's able to keep the tempo up while moving in transition rather than slowing it down all the time.
Report on Twitter (sorry can't attach it) by @jeffrueter says Colorado pulls ahead as a front runner for Ola. So he is going to leave C-bus to go to Colorado??? Why? Or are the Rapids going to give him a nice new $$$ contract? But I thought the reason he wanted to leave was to move up league-wise? How would moving from Columbus to Colorado advance his career (other than if it is for increased salary)?
It's not that hard. #MLS sources telling me that #Rapids96 have pulled ahead as a front-runner to acquire #CrewSC's Ola Kamara. #LAGalaxy have also remained in talks over the striker.— Jeff Rueter (@jeffrueter) January 10, 2018
