I’ll get us started. I haven’t been this excited for a season to start since we signed özil. It’s only pre season kick around, but I’m sure the players will be trying to convince the boss of their usefulness so should be interesting. Watch free on arsenal.com with the digital subscription. 18-0 to the arse!
Some shaky moments in defense, but way better start to preseason than Karius is having for Liverpool.
Sorry not watching this. Too much ahead of it in the pecking order: * TdF Stage 9 * Wimbledon Men's Semi conclusion * WC 3rd Place match Man, what a day of sports! (I'm sure I'm leaving something out too) Sorry Unai, I'll have to catch you another day.
And you call yourself a fan. Watchable game actually. To me looked like we went 4-1-4-1 essentially. Willock and later chambers definitely sat deep and shielded the CBs. Willock was pretty terrible at this, chambers better. Also, in the first half I noticed that the fullbacks did. It set up as high as we saw with AW. Usually when xhaka picked the ball up, both Monreal and Bellerín would push up pretty high. Looked like the weak side fullback was always behind the play. While it wasn’t a Liverpool press, it was organized pressure in the first half at least. Players shifted to cut off passing lanes into midfield rather than press the back line. It’s a preseason game so not sure what else can be taken away. Should know more in the next game.
Hot trash? Did he get any better? Edit: nevermind. Just looked at scoresheet. Now i see what you meant.
Picked the wrong match. 3rd place match was a bore, meanwhile I haven't watch an Arsenal attack work so well and be so fluid in about 5 years.
Just caught the highlights as I didn't catch it yesterday with with everything else going on (The Clare v Wexford hurling match was on too Hon The Banner!). The players looked in fine fettle, I hope some of the young players who showed up well yesterday will be involved with the pre-season tour, especially Nketiah and Smith-Rowe who showed some good touches. I think it's a given that Maitland-Niles and Nelson will be involved.
Actually I didn't watch BEL-ENG until later, with copious ffwd'g. And happy about that decision. Instead I watched finish of TdF & Djoko-Nadal Semi... which didn't disappoint. I'll catch up with Arsenal pre-season later... against more "serious " opponents.
Emery wanted a chance to evaluate everyone, so there were more senior players involved than Arsenal usually take to Boreham Wood. Of course they were fluid, what did you expect would happen, Boreham are a non league side.
“John Stones cutting his holiday short to help defend title. “ http://www.espn.com/soccer/manchest...-holiday-to-help-premier-league-title-defence Ole Pep is scurred of us i think.
Last year we would have won 2-1. Might have been playing a lower quality team but watching formation and player movement was key.
Actually last year the U23 side beat them 4-0. Teams always look fluid against lesser competition. In addition, offense has not really been the problem. Last season Arsenal's 73 goals were joint third most, with Tottenham, in the EPL; and it took a 5-4 victory on the final day of the season for Tottenham to equal Arsenal's total goals scored. If you truly believe Emery changed everything in less than two week, I hope you are not too disappointed when the season begins.
I was being facetious with my comment, and I don't expect anything when it comes to sports but to be honest I would think because of a new manager and player turnover minimum expectation would be 6th and a cup run, anything above that is a bonus.
