OK, fair enough, there is enough political debate on all sides that we don't need it here. But that still doesn't absolve Mike Burns of any blame!
Parma, Juve, Milan, PSG, Bayern, Real Madrid, New England - Which one of these ain't like the others?
I actually think Ancelotti wouldn't be successful in New England. He's known for lazy/easy training sessions, not doing much teaching/developing of his players, etc. Maybe that'd fit at NYCFC or someplace where ownership will buy the players necessary, but not in a place where you're required to develop talent in order to compete.
Lets hope that after the last game... they fire Burns and let the new GM hire the new coach (not Tom either) That's my dream and after losing 6-1, to a team that can beat anybody, he has shown he is not any better than Heaps. Of course the FO will see it as a 2 for 1 salary swap if they keep Tom and that scares me A new coach, with no ties, can clean house and that is what we need now. There are only 4 or 5 Id keep
So much hangs on getting this opportunity right, and yet I have zero confidence on the organization getting even marginally close to getting it right......
Interesting read: Freedman: How the decision to replace a head coach can make or break a club October 4, 2017, 11:35AM EDT Jonah Freedman Average tenure of an MLS head coach: 2.6 years (which is long compared to other top leagues). He makes a case for first-time head coaches (Greg Vanney and Carl Robinson as examples). Still, my preference would be: 1. Experienced, foreign coach 2. Gio Saverese 3. Matt Reis (no idea how successful he would be, but it would be a fun ride)
Former Argentina coach Passarella speaks to Revs about job, Agent says October 7, 2017, 2:23PM EDT Ian Quillen MLS Soccer "Hey look! We're following Atlanta's path to success by hiring a former Argentina MNT coach! (Pay no attention to the fact that he hasn't coached in ten years)."
Hmm - "simple" interview. My initial reaction was similar - but at least it was a name of someone outside the Revs' comfort zone.
Well, Bruce Arena's going to be available. Not my preference, but he'd be a Krafty sort of move. Establishment guy. On the bright side, Arena would demand a slew of new players.
He's a complete ahole but I agree with your post. Smug Bruce here...after last night's US performance and subsequent non-result...makes me want to vomit.
Which we won't get. He's not coaching anywhere unless a team gives him the resources he wants. OTOH, Pat Noonan might be available.
I sort of recall that when he retired, he really wanted to go back to California. I'm not sure this is a place he wants to return to, all things considered.
Let's just say I have it on good authority that Joey would love to help out this org in some way, but he won't ever do it under a certain someone in the FO.
