Also, bye bye to the big center stripe that they've had since the beginning. Not sure how I feel about that, even though I was never a huge fan of the look.
Agreed, and, as @CMeszt pointed out upthread, it loses the center stripe, which to me was a defining element of the team's uniform program. Changing the color of it or something would've been one thing, but to remove it completely seems odd. With a new jersey every two years though, my guess it's one of those things that'll be back fairly soon.
That’s someone’s mockup, not the real thing. The real thing will probably look similar, but with a couple of differences.
It'll definitely be back, this is one of those times that a team messes with an iconic look for the sake of changing things up just so they can go back to the old look in a year.
It is kind of like FCD going away from the red and white hoops. At some point they will go back, maybe this year.
I like that Portland kit, as a secondary kit, its a clean look. Especially like the gold on the collar
That's a fair statement, it is unique. Now do they go with a modern look or something more retro for 25th anniversary? cant wait to see... plz someone leake something!
I love ‘em. They feel very clean and classic, and even though they aren’t a direct throwback, they definitely harken back to the white kits worn by earlier iterations of the Timbers, specifically the original NASL Timbers. Plus, the mono-white with green and gold accents is a nice change of pace from the Rose City red theme, though I do hope to see that return eventually. Once again the Timbers will have one of the nicest sets in the league this year, if not the nicest considering the continuity between this new secondary and the carried over primary.
I know right? There's not nearly enough tassels or inexplicable Attack on Titan-esq musculature. ...What da ********?...
Surprised that there is no news or leaks on the Sounders jersey... I'm really hoping they downplay that bright green. Would be a wonderful accent color
NEVER. "Rave Green" is their defining color. The only place it will be downplayed or moved to an accent is on secondary kits. And they wont tone it down to something darker either, less they have a color a little to close to their rivals to the south. Its like Duke and North Carolina with their different shades of blue.
