The picture of Yankee Stadium shows the soccer field extending over the pitchers mound.

Maybe they are going to have a wider field for this one since the Yankee's season is over? [emoji16]

    Limp into the playoffs.

Out in the first round. No playoff wins.

    As is tradition.

I'll be there for this one. Would not be surprised with anything from a 3-0 win to a 3-0 loss.

Correct me if my math is wrong here but it looks like we either beat NYCFC or else we end up going right back to Yankee stadium for our playoff game.

There are a bunch of scenarios where we go other places if we lose. We could even host still. Basically rooting for Minny (lol) and Chicago more than the Union.

That is correct if both DC and Columbus win as well. If the Union lose and DC and Columbus both lose, the Union finish 4th and would host DC. Ties and other combinations affect seeding as well.

It's much easier if the Union win. Then, they finish 3rd and would host DC, Columbus or Montreal depending upon what happens on Sunday.

Looks like 2 Knockout games will take place on Halloween night and 2 on Nov 1. When and where will the Union play?!

Why does the MLS suck at scheduling so badly? Is it that hard to not have playoff games on a holiday where all the parents will be busy?

According to the interwebs, the only real American soccer fans are childfree and in their 20s, so it doesn't matter.

Start the morning with an Eagles win. End the afternoon with a Union win.

    NYC scores from a corner.

Austin Trusty with an awful own goal.

    2 nil inside 10 minutes.

MLS should be embarrassed by a team playing on that "pitch." Absurd.

Not a good start...maybe I won't have to choose between a home playoff game and taking the kids trick-or-treating afterall.

Edit: they got one back... there's hope yet!

Burke pulls one back. Dockal with another assist.

    2-1

I'm watching on ESPN+ with the NYC feed. They're very complimentary of the Union in general.

    3-1

Villa after a terrible clearance and subsequent City pressure. Excellent finish from that Villa guy.

This is some of the worst defending yet this season. NYCFC doesn't even have to be particularly skilled or clever to get the ball into the back of the net. Just an impotent, lackluster effort.

    The defending has been atrocius.

Dockal just told off Corey Burke after Burke picked up a yellow card. Jimbo has his work cut out for him at half time

The pitch is already miniscule, why the hell are the Union wide players pinching in so narrow, making the midfield overcrowded.
    Poor.

So when the Union fall to 6th and play NYCFC again on Wednesday...they should look at starting Fabinho. Gaddis' schtick is eating up space with speed. On NYCFC's tennis court sized field he's being asked to have a lot of ball skills he just doesn't have. Gaddis is a better fit against teams like NYRB that press high and create situations that need a speedy defender to make recovery runs. If he could go 90, I'd start Ilsinho, too. He'd be perfect for this game. He probably can't go 90, though.

This always happens when they play at this crap field. I have no idea why the other teams don't protest that atrocity more vocally.
