And Columbus Crew SC has had about 200 with the ringmaster being the carny extraordinare Jim "Flanders" Smith.
Shut it down, kiddos! The second round of the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is done and over. If you missed it, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU??! And why don't you have the courage to stand up to your wife? Key takeaways? Key takeaways! CUPSETS GALORE!! Seven amateur sides dunked on the professionals, including a brilliant win by the men of Mississippi over Indy Eleven. Up the Brilla! Hell could still be real. Los Fußballers of Cincinnati triumphed over Detroit City FC by a score of 4-1, but needed extra time to secure the win. The Duka of Motown bagged a goal in a losing effort against Penn FC. May he fist pump in peace. But there's no time to breathe; Round 3 is coming in hot and heavy! Play resumes tomorrow night, with more matches to follow on Wednesday. Here's the schedule: Match streams should be available through US Soccer. And don't forget to follow the excellent Thecup.us for stories, match recaps, and more. That's 12 sexy soccer matches, so don't be a prude. EMBRACE THE CUP.
Anyone else think that the club might put forth a better effort from the outset unlike previous seasons? With the schedule being so heavily front loaded we have plenty of time for our “A” team to play in the first few matches...which is where we usually stumble...
I'd love to go all out to win this thing, but I don't see it happening. Unfortunately, it's going to be a packed month with two rounds of THE CUP thrown into the mix. Here's what we're looking at: June 2 - vs. Toronto June 6 - LHUSOC Round 4 June 9 - vs. NYRB June 13 - vs. Atlanta June 16/17/20 - LHUSOC Round of 16 June 23 - @ LAFC June 30 - vs. RSL We won't know if we're hosting THE CUP until each round concludes, so we could be travelling on those dates. It be regional, sure, but it's still travel. That's a pretty tough run in the league, too. I anticipate Gigi leaning on the scrubs for THE CUP matches. Maybe if we get to the quarterfinals, we'll see more starters.
I see Gregg running with backups for the first game or maybe even two. Kempin Maloney - Sauro - Williams (or Crognale) - Hector Abu - Clark Argudo - Sosa - Hansen or Martinez Jahn Hey maybe we will get a home game this year. What do you think the cheapest venue is to play a soccer game these days?
Agreed. I also think with a lineup like this the opponent might think they have a chance and bunker less. It might actually be a game then. You know the ultimate dick move by Precourt is if he tries to play the US Open game in Austin. I don't think he is that horrible but I don't put anything past anyone these days.
Okay, looks like Crognale may not be available for THE CUP. He was sent back to Orange County. Gregg Berhalter said today that #CrewSC center back Alex Crognale was sent back on loan to Orange County SC.— Patrick Murphy (@_Pat_Murphy) May 22, 2018
The geography on some of these pods got a little wonky, so US Soccer could put a lower level team in each one. We're getting either Cincy, Chicago, or Minnesota. The 2 winners are not guaranteed to play each other, as the teams will be re-podded again after next round. 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Geographic Grouping of Teams Prior to Fourth Round Draw Northeast Louisville City FC (USL) New England Revolution (MLS) New York City FC (MLS) New York Red Bulls (MLS) Mid-Atlantic D.C. That's reasonable, but there are still a couple of outliers. Louisville fits better in our pod, but then you have to fill in the NE pod--and they don't want 4 MLS sides there.
Oh ******** that shit. I want HELL! Give it to me NOW! Also, this killed me: Ladies and gentlemen it's official: Miami you will have the FREEDOM to come and watch an @MLS team as we will host @OrlandoCitySC for the #USOC2018 more details to come soon. #ForeverUnited— MIAMI UNITED F.C. Hey, @cleazer, do you happen to know our all-time record against Chicago in THE CUP? Hugs and kisses in advance.
Funny how the CFO never promoted these because it was a USSF event. I mean, technically, they're not wrong, but why are other teams promoting them? What do they know/don't know?
Just claimed my tickets through the e-mail from STM rep. Love the really unofficial feel of that form (thanks for taking this survey!). Watch the fine print too that says you will need to print your ticket, it will not be loaded onto your card.
